CPU Performance Patch v2.0

Plugins + Scripts CPU Performance Patch v2.0

Download [2.96 MB]
Thanks for this 2.0 update.

I only want to know, if the proper folder structure for the BepInEx Patcher is to drag and drop the actual folder you included in the package, into the plugins subfolder? Or should it just be the .dll inside the plugins subfolder? (right now the .dll is itself inside its own NativeGCPatcherV3.1 folder).

EDIT: Also, wanted to know if there's a way to disable the Patcher UI from the top-left corner? (while leaving it active, of course); thanks.
The folder structure in the zip is already set up so you can just copy and paste
Ctrl+G opens the NativeGCPatcher window, where you can hide it

I was already using all those performance patches you've mentioned/include + vr browser + LeanCore (although i'm not sure how effective it is because of var browser). With your version VAM is definitelly snappier when loading new scenes. Waiting for 3.0 version.

Hey. Let me loosely repeat my so-called "review" - Thank you for continuing to further optimize the performance of VAM 1 !!! Very glad that you're on the job.

Quick question: as for my critical must-have mods/plugins which rely on BepinEx, Var Browser is by far the most important. Did you by any chance test your solution alongside VB?

Second question, you and I crossed paths before re: the plugin from DiorBear which apparently parallelizes texture loading. I surmise that your solution completely supersedes his solution and that I can completely deinstall it?
Work perfectly with VB.

Yup. Thanks. Verified working with Var Browser. I also re-enabled JayJayWon's Browser Assist (without Var Mgmt) and everything seems to be working fine. As of right now, performance enhancements are not immediately noticeable (there are too many moving parts in my installation). But as you can see from this pic, all the P cores are being used with my two best cores being close to saturated as they should be.

For completeness: This snapshot of Task Manager is while running a 5 girl MMD dance routine with MMD2Timeline. The GPU text is cut off - I'm rocking an RTX 4080.

One thing though, in DiorBear's implementation, the loading status sez that "parallel loading" is in progress; and scene loading seems to be subjectively faster with DiorBear. Or it could just be a placebo thing.

Anyway, thanks so much for this. Everything is working as it should. Keep on trucking my dude. Looking forward to the next drop.

I'm glad it works with Var Browser ;)

As for scene loading times, I've managed to achieve some pretty good results with 3.0.
I created a test scene with 3 Person atoms, two of them using 8k textures, lots of lights, a mirror, a fuckton of CUAs added, and so on. Just so I'd have something to compare.
Results (time to load the entire scene):
Vanilla VaM
- Empty cache, first run: 07m15s
- Second run, with cache: 04m40s
Patch 3.0
- Empty cache, first run: 02m07s
- Second run, with cache: 00m29s

But I still have a lot of testing ahead of me. I fix one thing, another breaks, and it just keeps going like that. And I'm planning to add more than just faster loadings, so it's going to take a while.

Please post more versions with smaller changes. It's much better approach.

Niiiiiiiiiice !!! Keep it up, buddy!!! I just want my GPU and my P-cores to be completely pegged. i.e. make the hardware I paid good money for, earn their keep. LOL

Can this be used at the same time as VaM LeanCore?
I’ve looked into what LeanCore does, and at first glance I wouldn’t recommend using it alongside this patch. I haven’t tested the combination, but some of their changes overlap and could conflict

I don't have a fully working and stable version of 3.0 yet, and I don't want to release something that "sort of works." I'll only release it once I manage to make something that works properly and doesn't break anything

I remember when "Release early, release often" was a thing. It was a great way to drive your programmers into an early grave while the executives munched on hors d'oeuvres at "networking" events. LOL

Huge thanks for the massive performance boost! I used to run evo12, and it's way faster now with your patch. One issue though: the MMD Player is lagging like crazy compared to before. Is this a known bug?

And which MMD player are you using? I use MMDShow myself, and everything works fine 🤔

I'm actually using MMDx. Since it's pretty niche, finding a fix probably won't be easy lol. Thanks anyway!
Is that the one that uses BepInEx and replaces Mono.Cecil with a different version? If so, there's a good chance it won't be compatible with this patch

Spot on! Thanks for the reply, and I'm really looking forward to v3

Should I wait for the v3.0 patch or try using one of the var offloader tools instead? 6,000 active morphs loaded, and there's 3,500 vars of all kinds of shit. CPU is starting to struggle along with high RAM usage.

I'd start by cleaning up your VaM installation before worrying about v3.0 or var offloaders
I'm guessing you're only using a fraction of that content regularly. I'd also check for duplicate morphs, textures, broken dependencies, and other unnecessary junk
3,500 vars of all kinds of shit
If I were you, I'd start with a fresh VaM installation, add only the essentials (plugins, favorite models, clothing, etc.), and gradually clean up first and add back only the vars you actually use
Once everything is clean and organized, then I'd look into additional performance improvements. There's not much point in optimizing a mess before cleaning it up imo
