Can I add some triggers at the beginning and end of the audio?

Potentially you can, but without knowing more on what and how you set the audio you may need to do this in different ways.
Specifically I have some audio (10-20 seconds in length) that will randomly play the next one at 30 second intervals, and I want to add other sound effects in the intervening blank time
Have you tried the Audiomate plugin that allows you to make collections and queue sounds?
Yes, I'm using it, and the author tells me there is no such event in VAM
Thinking about MacGruber's Logicbricks now. I just got started with those, so I don't know if there's something there that could be used.
