I have a G2 as well.
If I understand correctly I think I know what the problem is, and it's due to the scene using MacGruber's Postmagic plugin. To me at least in VR the plugin can hide completely the menu on some areas, show on others, basically a pain. In desktop there's not problem. Can also be difficult to find the plugin and disable the atom depending on who made the scene, but at least now you know the possible cause.
