Good day everyone,

I wanted to try a VR headset for VaM (but also VR Chat & Blade and Sorcery), so basically exclusively using PCVR. I found a Pico Neo 3 Link for 120$ and thought it was a good deal but since it's from previous generation, anybody know how it's holding up today? I also was interested in Neo 3 Link since it have the DisplayPort built-in and I'm not sure if Pico 4 would be a better choice since I heard there's compression issue using the Type-C cable, which I do not how it feel in games since I do not have experience in VR headsets nor it's image quality. I do have 5G router but it's not inside my room, I could relocate it though if I were to go wirelessly route. I would also like to know how Tracking and Pasthrough (not a priority) work on the Pico Neo 3 Link. Oh btw, I will be using RTX 3080 to power it up (I might upgrade to RX 9070 XT if it's perform well)

So, is there anyone still using or have experience using Pico Neo 3 Link? I would love to hear your opinion. Thank you in advance <3

I use mines regularly and love it. for that price i really don't think you would be disappointed. apparently it had a rocky start with lens/driver issues but there's custom drivers out there you can use to correct the issues people were talking about.

im running pretty old hardware. dual 2.4ghz xeons with 12gb ram and a 2060 super. average 20-25fps in vr which suits me fine for now but on super stripped down scenes with none yer fancy soft body physics. no doubt though with proper hardware the headset would perform great still. the headset here is not the limiting factor for the fps. seems to be as a general rule of thumb is you get around half of what you get in desktop mode.

lenses obviously aren't as advanced as pico 4 for example. I could have got the pico 4 with much better lenses but I was really swayed in the end by the pico 3's DP connection cause my hardware sucks like i said so squeezing every drop of performance and latency counts and i don't need to faff around with networking virtual desktop etc etc. so been very pleased with it.

I play Elite with it too and I was absolutely blown away. i don't get why the headset isn't more popular.

my only issues, the battery being on the back of your head is a little annoying at times but you get used to it. I see it also has its own hand tracking feature which works in the pico OS but cant get vam to work with it. I hear the calibration noise but nothing happens in-game which im sure has noting to do with vam. they also sell a better hand tracking device that clips on to the headset.

imo, worth the money if you're on a tight budget and want to experience vr
