Overview of Site Terms-of-Use
By using VaMHub you agree to the Terms-of-Use which is a legal document which you can review here.
This guide does not serve as a replacement for our official Terms-of-Use, but is instead meant to helpfully break down some of the key points.
1. Responsibility
We are not responsible for anything that you post or say while you are on the Hub. You bear that responsibility. If lawyers get involved, ultimately we are not in the firing line. Please take care what you post and bear this in mind.
2. Adult-Oriented Content
This is a site about a sex game. There is sexually explicit material here not suitable for minors. If you're not 18, or it's not legal for you to be accessing these materials, you must leave.
3. Access to the Hub
We may modify or restrict access to the Hub at any time for any reason at our sole discretion. This primarily relates to server outages and site maintenance, but the point is we are not liable if you can't access the Hub at any time.
4. Registration
By registering, you agree to get email communications about your account. Some of these notifications can be disabled in your preferences.
You are responsible for your account security. If you get hacked, we will attempt to assist with the issue through support, but we are not legally responsible should you lose control of your account.
5. Intellectual Property Rights
Everything on the Hub that you did not create (website code, graphics, styles, arrangement, logos, etc) are our intellectual property and are protected by all relevant IP laws.
You may use the site, download content, browse, etc. But you may not use our code, graphics, logos, information, data, etc for any other purpose (especially commercially) without our express permission. This includes use of our API in your plugins, or scraping the Hub for metrics to display on another website.
All logos and trademarks on this website that come from other creators belong to their respective owners and are protected by their respective intellectual property rights.
6. Prohibited Uses
You MUST NOT use the Hub...
... In any way that violates US law or the laws where you live, or any other applicable law
... To harm minors in any way, including exposing them to the content on this website
... To share illegal material or content that violates our policies
... For spam
... For fraud
... In any way that takes the fun out of the Hub for any other user, or in any way that exposes us or other users to liability
6.2 Additional NO-NO's
You MUST NOT...
...Use the website in a way that impairs the site for others. (For example, creating a plugin that inadvertently overburdens our server and slows down connections.)
...Use robots, spiders, or scripts that scrape data from the Hub. Of course we allow search engine scrapers, but scraping data for your own personal, public or commercial use is a big no-no.
...Manually monitor or mass-copy any of the material on the Hub without our written consent. This is basically the same rule as above, but for people who want to do it the hard way.
...Hack the site, introduce viruses, attempt to gain admin access, etc. Interfere with the Hub code and AshAuryn will personally defenestrate you and not in a fun way.
7. User Contributions (aka The Stuff You Post)
You keep all rights to the stuff you contribute to the Hub. We're not using it to train AI, sell to 3rd parties, or attempt to monetize. It's yours, and your responsibility.
You give us the right to display your content on the Hub, and to use it for advertising VaM or VaMHub, or to transfer it to a new website that we might create. If at any time you don't want your stuff used in association with VaM or the Hub, you can delete the content or close your account. Bear in mind that if your content has been licensed for use under Creative Commons, that license does not terminate with the closing of your account or with the deletion of your content from the Hub.
You waive all Moral Rights to your content. If you're unfamiliar with the term "Moral Rights", see this definition:
As defined by the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works, an international agreement governing copyright law, moral rights are the rights “to claim authorship of the work and to object to any distortion, mutilation or other modification of, or other derogatory action in relation to, the said work, which would be prejudicial to his honor or reputation.”
This basically means you can't complain that we're not "treating your art with the respect it deserves" or other such nonsense.
By submitting content on the Hub, you are stating that you have the right to share that content and that it doesn't violate any laws.
You share content at your own risk. The content you post is your legal responsibility, not ours. If law enforcement or lawyers come calling, we will direct them to you.
There's a United States "porn record-keeping" law that you need to be aware of since you're the owner of your content. FWIW this has never come up:
Obligations Under 18 U.S.C. § 2257. You should be aware that, under United States federal law, any visual depictions that you post, share, or perform on or through the Website that portrays “actual sexually explicit conduct,” “depictions of the genitals or pubic area,” or “simulated sexually explicit activity,” as those terms are defined in 18 U.S.C. §§ 2256(2)(A)(i)–(iv) and 2257A, require that you maintain the records listed under 18 U.S.C. § 2257, and any such postings must contain an “18 U.S.C. § 2257 Record-Keeping Requirements Compliance Statement.” Your failure to comply with the provisions of 18 U.S.C. § 2257 may make you subject to criminal and civil prosecution for the violation of federal law.
8. Monitoring and Enforcement (aka The VaMHub Moderation Team)
We may remove or refuse to post your content for any or no reason at our sole discretion. Hub staff will typically communicate with you about any issues with content, but ultimately this is a "because we said so" situation.
If you do something illegal, we will hand over to the authorities any information about you that we are required to hand over by law.
If we feel the need, we may contact law enforcement in response to unauthorized use of our site.
We may ban your account or restrict your access to the Hub for any or no reason. (Though we are typically very transparent with our reasons)
9. Content Standards (We will have a separate section of the Hub FAQs to go over this in detail)
"Content" in this case means anything you post to the Hub.
Your content must not violate any applicable laws. In many cases, "applicable laws" for the Hub mean international laws, because we are an international website and we serve many different regions all over the world. What may be "ok" in your country is not necessarily "ok" internationally. This is for the protection of our members world-wide who in some cases can suffer strict penalties for viewing certain types of material.
Your content can't be abusive, offensive, harassing, hateful, or basically be anything that pisses off a lot of users or causes us to receive a lot of reports.
Be excellent to each other, don't be a dick. We shouldn't have to explicitly say this, but also be respectful when communicating with VaMHub Staff.
We have had several users over the years who have tested this part of our Terms, and the best advice we can give is F*** Around and Find Out.
Don't be racist or discriminatory. This includes creating sexual content that uses racial stereotypes or tropes.
No depictions of underage models. Do not even approach this line. This is insta-ban territory. We do not care if you put "She just turned 18" or "Legal Age" in the description. This is a virtual reality simulator. If it looks underage to us, it is underage. We refer you to to the beginning of section 8 where we explain "Because we said so."
No non-consensual sexual acts. No rape. No "roleplay" rape. No "it looks like rape, but she's smiling the whole time". No "rapey scene with consensual-sounding dialogue". Refer to our position on underage content. If it looks like rape to us, it is rape, and no amount of arguing will change that. We will go into more detail on this elsewhere in the FAQs.
No violence, bleeding (blood on the face for a vampire look is ok, bleeding cuts or bleeding from sexual organs is not ok), torture, gore, choking, mutilation, or necrophilia.
No bestiality. A minotaur is ok. A centaur is not. Furries are ok. Ponies are not. Animals that serve as unity assets and do not have genitalia are ok. Animals with genitalia are not.
No urination, defecation, vomiting or enema play. Our internal policy on this is do not post screenshots, but if you include it in your scene then we will fall back to user reports before we take action. This is mainly to protect those who live in countries where viewing this content on the web could result in criminal penalties from some obscenity laws.
No revenge porn. Do not create a virtual model of your ex-girlfriend to post on the Hub.
Do not violate copyright or licensing (we will go into detail with this elsewhere in the FAQs).
Do not reproduce content from other porn sites.
Don't share people's private information (no doxxing).
Don't post content with the intention to deceive others (for example AI-altered screenshots).
Don't promote illegal activity. For example, your content cannot depict rape, sex trafficking, involuntary slavery, abduction, use of illegal drugs, etc. You also cannot post anything to our forums that solicits or promotes illegal activity (no posts asking if anyone knows where to hire a hitman, etc)
Don't pretend to be someone else or impersonate another person.
Don't post content and pretend it's from VaM, MeshedVR, or VaMHub, or endorsed by any of our staff or trademarks. This includes using our logo in your content without written permission.
Don't post ads. This is a free website with free content. We have designated areas for paid content. Posting any advertisement for any paid content or service outside of the designated areas is a violation of our site Rules.
MOST IMPORTANTLY:
We have a rule that specifically says DO NOT POST CONTENT THAT CAN
cause annoyance, inconvenience, or needless anxiety or be likely to upset, embarrass, alarm, or annoy any other person.
This goes along with "because we said so" and "f*** around and find out". We have a very supportive community here and want to foster a healthy creative environment with no judgements or harassment. If you can't be part of that, please escort yourself out.
10, 11, 12 and so on....
The rest is a lot of legalese that you are welcome to peruse at your leisure. Standard stuff for a content site, and has some important information about how to file a copyright complaint, what we do with your personal data, etc. [Spoiler: we do not sell your personal data and you can ask to have it deleted at any time]
Once again, please do read the Terms of Use before using the site as this guide is abbreviated and merely serves to outline the basics.
