Studio Maestro 2 is a huge game changer for virtual photography and brings a fully customized Desktop UI.
Here is a (probably) non-exhaustive list of changes:

  • Desktop only Custom UI
  • Improved VAM vanilla UI design for VR users
  • Added several controls for the camera: Exposure, GI, Camera sync to view, Look At rotation...
  • Added offset control for the light rig
  • Added auto-centering on character for the light rig
  • Added a button to clear all invisible lights in the scene
  • Improved character management based on scene interactions (adding/deleting atoms)
  • Added preview capture for camera positions
  • Added search feature for camera positions
  • Dozens of miscellaneous bug fixes
  • Fixed a FOV bug thanks to @AlienAxeMan

Extra Special Thanks

We can't thank enough some of the community members supporting us, giving us ideas, helping us out with code issues and tremendous content... but we can try!

CODE AND DEBUG CONTRIBUTIONS
We can't thank enough the community and people helping out during plugin development.
Big thanks to @CheesyFX, @everlaster for helping on code shenanigans.
Big thanks to @AlienAxeMan, @mattiaheron for debugging and suggesting cool features.

COMMUNITY DEPENDENCIES
Studio Maestro couldn't be what it is without some great plugins and inspiration from existing code shared on the hub.
Thank you to @Acid Bubbles for the invaluable amount of code that helped us out achieving plugins over the years.
Thank you to @MacGruber for his awesome SuperShot and PostMagic

COMMUNITY CONTENT

The presets packs couldn't exist without the wicked content shared by super-talented posers, lighting artists or virtual photographers.

Well...

Yesterday I needed a break from the incoming Halloween scene we're working on with @Juno and @Spacedog so I started thinking back of the things I failed to do and could fit into Studio Maestro.

An hour later, I succeeded in finally doing proper screenshot with an alpha channel. I'm so excited about this feature that I temporarly disabled the features from the next big update to share it with you until we finish Scary Mary. I know this has a lot of potential for people creating comics or making avatars for their scenes.

So here you go, you can now do transparent shots without having to spend hours cutting out your characters in your favourite image software!

  • Added a new checkbox Screenshot with Alpha checkbox above the SAVE SCREENSHOT button.
  • Saves a new screenshot in the screenshot folder with alpha transparency containing _Transparent suffix in the filename.

Click on the shot to zoom in
  1. Click on the checkbox to enable transparent screenshot
  2. Click on the Save Screenshot to save the shot
This system does not super sample the final screenshot with SuperShot. It's a complete custom approach based on several articles and tutorials found on internet. Maybe someday, if @MacGruber is a bit bored and got some time, he could use a similar approach and implement it in Super Shot :D ;) ;) ;)

But in the meantime, you need to either be at 4K on your native desktop resolution OR super sample your desktop resolution with DSR or similar to 1440p or 2160p if you want to have a better output resolution for the final image.

To take a transparent screenshot you need to have the skybox disabled and a black background.
LUT Update Hotfix
  • Fixed a critical bug where set loading was duplicating the subscenes
Refer to the previous update post for the change list. (sorry!)
LUT Update
  • Added LUT feature (handled through @MacGruber's Post Magic, thank you buddy as usual!). LUT settings are saved with the lights preset.
  • Added new preview system featuring quality setting and overlay options
  • Changed the right UI layout to be nicer and more in line with the new preview features
  • Fixed a bug when using the search function for the sets

Final shot in the demo video is extracted from the session without any post process besides the new LUT feature.

Recommandations and known limitations
  • Preview window cannot show the post processing (for now, the LUT). We recommend using "M" to swap to the monitor to preview the final shot, and tweaking the LUT without using the preview.
  • Due to new implementation of Post Magic, Maestro tries to import and disable versions already in your scene.
    • You cannot have multiple post-processing at the same time
    • You cannot have Post Magic contained in your sets (or subscenes)
  • Fixed a bug when saving a light preset and lights were contained inside a subscene. Now lights are properly unparented before saving them allowing you to import light rigs from subscenes inside Maestro. ( thank you @babul for notifying! )
