I've always wanted one thing: to watch my movies and shows inside VaM, on a screen right there in the scene with me.
The default player lets you show local videos, but it's limited, no streaming sites, no specific apps, nothing outside of local files. I wanted more freedom than that.
So I built ScreenToVAM. It captures anything on your PC :
Your whole screen, or just a single window and streams it live onto an Image Panel in VaM. Netflix, YouTube, a movie player, a game, literally anything running on your desktop can now show up on a screen inside your scene.
How it works
A small companion program captures your screen or a chosen window. The VaM plugin (StreamReceiverForVAM) connects to that stream and decodes each frame straight onto the surface material of your choice : no browser, no virtual camera driver, no extra software needed.
Lightweight, dependency-free (uses only .NET Framework 4.x, already present on virtually all Windows 10/11 systems), and easy to set up in a few clicks: run the exe, add an Image Panel, load the plugin, done.

- Auto aspect-ratio fit — one click matches the panel's proportions exactly to the incoming video, no manual guessing.
- Resilient connection — automatic reconnect if the stream drops, with clear status feedback (Connecting / Connected / Error) right in the plugin UI.
- Everything stays local — the stream never leaves 127.0.0.1, so there's no network setup, no port forwarding, and no external server involved.
