The set up process has a bit of a learning curve, to say the least. But once properly set up, using the clothing item should be relatively hassle free, at least based on my limited testing.
Due to the amount of porting effort required, I actually don't see this plugin get used all that often. I would only recommend consider using it when VaM's native system really cannot deliver what you are looking for.
Hopefully some experienced creators here can give this a spin, and it can improve based on feedback. Feel free to post your questions, comments, or bug reports here or in the tutorial post, or DM me directly.
Thanks, and happy weight painting!
This a plugin that, when enabled as a clothing plugin, renders the clothing item using an alternative pipeline.
Key features:
- Bone weight skinning + morph nodes refit. This allows for:
- Almost zero wrap deforms across the board.
- Fine control over skin/bone influence
- Solid piece, wrapped piece, simmed piece can all coexist in same clothing item
- XPBD cloth simulation
- Better stretch resistance in low iterations
- Bilateral smoothing for better detail preservation
- Details better preserved even at high iterations
- Clothing mesh edges can be masked, preserving hard/sharp edges
- Individual submeshes can be excluded from smoothing.
- Built-in guide mesh simulation for multi-layer garments.
- No need for a second clothing item as proxy
- Allow use of partial guide mesh, reducing modeling effort.
