POVFinder
Instantly jump to your favorite POV in every scene.

What It Does
POVFinder lets you load into a scene and quickly set the ideal POV position for your menu and up to 10 different locations or animations per plugin instance. With a single click or hotkey, you can jump between them at any time, perfect for fast switching between action angles, cinematic views, or to quickly jump back to a scene creator's menu to launch the next animation.

It also supports an Edit Mode offset, so your saved POV doesn’t shift when the menu opens or closes, what you see is what you save.

You can also save/load full presets, including all positions and your field of view (FOV) setting, to instantly restore your preferred viewing layout on your favorite scene.

Inspired by a hidden gem in VAM
Virt-A-Mate has a button under Scene Misc called "Set Scene Load Position To Current Position." The way it works is you move your viewing position around in VAM and then click the big red "Set Scene Load Position To Current Position" button. You can then click the "Move To Scene Load Position" below it to jump back to that exact viewing position. If you're familiar with how this works or have used it, this is essentially what POVFinder does.

POVFinder gives you 11 of these positions, all accessible and visible in the POVFinder UI: one for your menu if a creator puts it on a wall off to the side, and 10 for anything else. Just move your viewing position where you want, click Set Position, and it’s saved. Need more? Just add another instance of the plugin.

All of these positions are also triggerable via Timeline or UI buttons. This provides you with a fast alternative to having to setup 11 empty atoms with 11 instances of Spawn Point to move around and align.

Important Scene Exit Warning
Moving the camera rig like this is fast and convenient for spawning around, but it can cause you to load "in the clouds" when exiting a scene to the Hub or Scene Browser.

POVFinder includes a Reset Screen button and a CTRL+R hotkey on the Main tab to instantly restore a safe default camera view.

Want extra safety? Check out the companion RecoveryTools session plugin, which has a built-in Screen Recovery tab with the same hotkey support.

And if you forget? Just restart VAM. Your camera position will auto-reset on launch.

Summary:
• Up to 10 tabs + 1 menu spawn point
• Click to set position, hotkey to return
• Works with UI or Timeline triggers
• FOV and Editor Mode aware
• Built-in screen recovery support
• Fully preset save/load capable
• Easy to extend with multiple plugin instances

🙋‍♂️How do I use it? Can you tell me the main things I need to know?
Add the plugin on an Empty Atom in one of your favorite scenes that has a Menu off on a wall somewhere to the side. Move your view in front of the Menu. Open the Menu tab and click the "Set Position Menu" button. Then move your position to the first animation. Adjust your view how you like it best. Then on Tab 1 click the "Set Position 1" button. You can then go to Menu tab and click the "Spawn Menu" button or go to Tab 1 and click "Spawn 1" to see it move back to your saved viewing position. You can use the keypad hotkey period (.) for menu and keypad 1 for animation 1 for example. If you get it setup for all the animation positions you can then click Save Preset on the Main tab to re-use that preset again next time you load the scene. Before you exit the scene, go to the Main tab and click the "Reset Screen" button in the top right corner or use the hotkey CTRL+R to fix your camera position back to normal. It will not change anything you save in the plugin, it's just to fix it because VAM will go off last cam location. If you forget to do this and exit out and are in the clouds, do CTRL+R and it will still work since the scene is still open in the background with this plugin on it and it has this built in screen recovery on it.

Here’s an overview of how the tabs work:

Main Tab

  • Select Person: Choose which Person atom to track for body-relative positions (e.g., headControl).
  • Field of View: Saves your current FOV so it reloads correctly with presets.
  • Adjust for Editor Mode: Prevents POV shifting caused by opening or closing the Edit menu.
  • Editor Mode X/Y/Z Offset: Manually adjust offsets to compensate for Edit Mode view shifts.
  • Reset Screen: Restores a safe camera position to avoid "cloud" spawns when exiting scenes.
  • CTRL + [Key]: Assigns a hotkey (default CTRL+R) to reset the screen.
  • Camera X/Y/Z Position: Fine-tune your default camera position if needed for your monitor/setup.
  • Load/Save Preset: Save and reload all tab settings with a screenshot preview.

Menu Tab

  • Set Position Menu: Saves your current POV as the Menu viewing spawn location. (Global View is required when using Set Position buttons.)
  • Position Reference: Set the reference to Global View or a body part on the selected person. (For a Menu use Global View)
  • Spawn Menu: Jumps back to the Menu POV position you saved.
  • Hotkey: Shortcut to trigger the Menu POV position you saved. (default: KeypadPeriod).
  • Position and Rotation Sliders: Auto-filled on Set Position but manually adjustable.

🙋What is the difference between Global View and Body Parts Selected?

Global View
This is the default mode when no control or body part is selected in the scene. The camera or plugin actions apply to the entire scene. This mode is required when using the Set Position buttons to get accurate and consistent results.

Body Parts Selected
This mode is active when you select a specific control, like HeadControl or ChestControl. It’s useful for experimenting with tracking-based positions that might work across multiple scenes.

For example, you could:

  • Select a Male’s HeadControl and adjust the sliders while clicking the spawn button to place the camera slightly above and in front.
  • Do the same for a Female — placing the view directly in front, to the side, or behind her — and reuse it in different scenes.
These setups take more time to fine-tune, but can give you more dynamic or universal spawn points that adjust based on character position and could be re-used across multiple scenes.

Hotkeys

I put a lot of thought into choosing a default hotkey setup for this plugin. When assigning hotkeys in VAM, it’s important to avoid keys already used by VAM itself, and also consider whether you’ll want to type freely without accidentally triggering plugin functions.

To solve this, I use the Keypad keys (e.g., Keypad1, KeypadPeriod) instead of the top-row number keys (Alpha1, Alpha2, etc.). This keeps your normal typing unaffected and avoids conflicts with VAM’s built-in hotkeys.

By default:

  • KeypadPeriod is assigned to open the Menu.
  • Keypad1 through Keypad9 are assigned to Positions 1–9.
  • Keypad0 is assigned to Position 10.
This setup preserves your alphanumeric keys (the 1–0 keys at the top of your keyboard) for regular typing or use in other plugins.

Feel free to change the hotkey bindings if you prefer a different setup — and if you find a better system, feel free to share it with others on the discussion for this plugin.
