hey . just wanted to say thank you. i have no background in these kind of sandbox engine or p*rn games in general. i am more intertested in the technical aspects of how this works and less in fullfilling my fantasies in VAM. i am mainly here because i saw a scene from vam randomly on a discord of a friend and could not believe that you can make human bodies look this good in a consumer level software. So i am really interested in what all the magic is, what goes into a scene like yours, compared to some... well mid / low level scenes i have also seen on here, where the models look very... "sims video game" - kind a way. and thankfully you provided little notes detailing what plugin / asset / modification does what in your scene. really thankful for it. i am trying to slowly recreate all of the knowledge and skills you guys learned into a scene of my own just to see how it looks. thanks again.

Thank you so much for your comment. Getting started in VaM has a very steep learning curve, but there are a lot of good tutorials out there to help that I wish had been around when I got started.

There are two things that I think are most important for making the characters look lifelike in VaM. The first is lighting. Properly lighting the scene and the characters can make all the difference in the world. I personally use little to no environmental lighting so the only sources are the lights you choose yourself.

Second is just a catch-all "attention to detail." It's the little things that people will remember, so when animating, it's important to add little things (a smirk, a slow closing of the eyes, a small slap or grab) and to remove the things that break realism (jerky movements, eyes that don't look where they should, repetitive movements without variation or imperfection.) Looping animation is great, but humans are pretty good at noticing patterns, so we'll spot the fake movements in religion every time.

Good luck on your adventure here. Remember that there are LOTS of people who can offer advice, and tons of scenes to deconstruct so you can see how others get stuff done.

Easily one of my favorite creators in the community. Man I'm miles from where you are with regard to smooth animation. It's kinda depressing. Lol. Seriously, excellent work. (when she slaps his hand away! Hot!)

New top 5 favourite scene (most are probs vamurai), the crawl into the light cone really sells some realism to set it up.


Divining rod fix:
I also had issues with penis alignment, but the fix -may- be simple.
Adding diving rod, and editing the timeline triggers for attom to disable at the start of the action (0.0s), and enable just before insertion (159.7s) fixed it for me.
Tried with a bunch of models and it worked flawlessly.

Need to set divining rod adaptation rate to 100% (instant) but the movement is so small I honestly don't notice it.
Also enable Right Hand (to possibly fix missing the finale).

Could probably do the same to fix some other issues with BJ pop-out and the hand job at the end (hand misses sometimes).
The insertion at 159.7s is probably the most important part though.

Edit:
Figured I'd get the other timestamps to enable/disable diving rod in case anyone else wanted it:
0.0 disable
39.9 enable (fixes BJ)
121.9 disable (ends BJ)
159.7 enable (fixes sex) there's a 'dick on' action here which I replaced, doesn't seem to do anything.
239.2 disable (ends sex) ('dick off' action replaced)
239.8 enable (new trigger point) (fixes finale, sometimes)
240.4 disable (new trigger point)

This causes some other issues though since divining rod enables penis rotation; to fix this we need more triggers when disabling divining rod to also set rotation to 'off' for these three.

You can 'copy actions' and go paste this in the four places above where you disable the plugin and you're done.

Figuring out all that took waaay longer than it should've...

Wow, this is very thorough! I might have some time this afternoon to fix this. Normally, if I use divining rod and I have more complex stuff like this where there are moments of insertion, switching to handjob or blowjob, etc, I actually just add the three main penis controllers to the animation and add keyframes at various points to keep the penis where I need it to account for when it turn it back on or disable it again.

I really appreciate that you took the time to work through this for the scene! I absolutely owe it to you and other fans to implement a real fix here.

I love this, however I am just wondering if there are any alignment tips when swapping models? For your other scenes I regularly see no issue when I use the appearance loader plugin and set it to not change model scale, but for this scene specifically getting the model to align properly during cowgirl can be difficult

Strange, I don't remember adjusting Hazel too much to where she would be far off from the default model. I could see how that very precise movement onto him would be tricky for other models though.

I'm thinking I may have to try to implement divining rod after all, if only for that movement.

I always love hearing feedback that the little details matter to people. It encourages me in a way I don't think I can fully articulate. I picture being a cook who, when making a dish receives and appreciates plenty of praise, but it really hits home when someone figures out the secret ingredient. "Did you use cinnamon in this?" Of COURSE I used cinnamon!

The secret ingredient is never hidden, anyone can discover it, but having it noted as so crucial makes it worth the effort of adding it.
