LookCam Assistant — Favorites & Category Overhaul Update
This update focuses on solving one of the biggest challenges in scene building:
managing large lists of camera captures in complex scenes.
With new filtering tools, categories, and UI improvements, LookCam Assistant is now faster and much easier to navigate — especially during recording or animation work.
1. Favorites Filter
A new
Favorites Only toggle lets you quickly hide all non-essential captures.
Perfect for scenes where you might have 30–60 shots but only use a handful during final composition or recording.
2. Category System (6 Built-In Categories)
Each camera capture can now be assigned to one of six categories:
- Default
- Scene
- Angle
- Movement
- Close-Up
- Custom
This makes it easy to separate:
- large cinematic scene shots
- small angle tweaks
- movement/transition cameras
- close-up shots for storytelling
3. Category Filter Dropdown
A new dropdown lets you instantly filter the camera list by category.
Examples:
- Show only Close-Up shots
- Show only Movement cameras
- Keep Scene-level shots separate from small detail cameras
This dramatically speeds up navigation.
4. Per-Capture “Cat:” Button
Every camera capture now includes a
Cat: button.
Clicking it cycles through categories directly on that capture — no extra windows or menus.
Fast, clean, and VR-friendly.
5. Improved Capture Header Display
Capture entries now show both:
Example:
★ [Scene] 1. Balcony Wide
This makes it immediately clear what type of shot you’re working with.
6. Full Persistence (Save / Load / Export / Import)
Categories and favorites are now saved in:
- the scene JSON
- LookCam’s own export/import files
This means your organization is preserved across scenes, projects, and workflows.
7. UI Layout Improvements
The UI has been reorganized for clarity and better VR usability.
- All camera tools and buttons now grouped on the right side
- Cleaner vertical spacing
- More consistent button placement
- Easier thumbstick navigation in VR
LookCam is now more readable, more structured, and faster to use in real-time scene building.
License Update
LookCam Assistant is now released under
CC BY-SA, ensuring compatibility with VaM Hub licensing guidelines and allowing community modification while preserving proper credit.
