Clothing Plugin Injector
Purpose
Clothing Plugin Injector is a Windows utility that automates the repetitive process of adding Clothing Plugin Manager references to existing VaM clothing packages.Normally, this requires manually opening a clothing .var, finding each clothing .vaj file, editing it with a text editor, inserting the required JSON references, and repacking the archive. This Tool performs those steps automatically.
It is intended to make local clothing setup easier and to help clothing creators reduce repetitive preparation and testing time.
How It Works
The Tool:- Opens an existing clothing .var.
- Finds supported clothing .vaj files inside the package.
- Adds a reference to an installed Stopper or Ashu Clothing Plugin Manager.
- Optionally adds references to compatible clothing plugins in the Expansion Edition.
- Updates dependency information in meta.json when that option is enabled.
- Repackages the clothing .var.
Included Editions
Basic Edition
ClothingPluginInjector_basic.cmdAdds an installed Clothing Plugin Manager reference to supported clothing items. This is the simplest version.
Expansion Edition
ClothingPluginInjector_expansion.cmdAdds the manager and optional compatible clothing plugins. It also provides backup, safe restore, dependency, cache-clearing, folder-selection, and list-refresh controls.
Main Features
- Supports Stopper and Ashu Clothing Plugin Manager.
- Adds manager and optional clothing-plugin references automatically.
- Processes clothing .vaj files only.
- Does not modify hair .vaj files.
- Preserves creator-supplied plugins and storables.
- Edits only an appropriate plugin block inside an ItemControl storable.
- Never changes the target clothing package’s own licenseType.
- Copies dependency license information from each dependency package’s own meta.json.
- Does not assign or guess CC BY or any other license on behalf of a creator.
- Reports a missing target meta.json instead of creating one or assigning a license.
- Preserves non-English filenames inside VAR/ZIP archives.
- Completes a temporary archive before replacing the original file.
- Supports exact restoration of files modified by the current version.
Requirements
- Virt-A-Mate 1.x for Windows
- Windows PowerShell 5.1
- At least one supported manager package installed:
- Stopper Clothing Plugin Manager
- Ashu Clothing Plugin Manager
Quick Start
- Close VaM completely.
- Make an independent copy of the clothing .var.
- Run ClothingPluginInjector_expansion.cmd.
- Select Stopper’s or Ashu’s manager.
- Select any optional compatible clothing plugins.
- Drop one or more clothing .var files into the large box.
- Leave Backup enabled.
- Press Apply.
- Start VaM and test the clothing.
Both editions stop without modifying files if VaM is running.
Backup and Safe Restore
When Backup is enabled, the untouched source .var is copied to:<VaM>\_var_backup_before_plugin
An existing backup with the same filename is not overwritten.
Before its first successful modification, the current version stores the exact original bytes of only the files it changes in:
ClothingPluginInjector/restore-v1.json
Restore writes those exact bytes back and removes the restore record. It does not search for and delete generic plugin fields, creator plugins, or unrelated storables.
Packages modified by an older version do not contain safe restore data. The current Tool will report that safe restore data is unavailable and leave the package unchanged. Restore the original package from your own backup before applying the current version.
The built-in backup and restore functions are convenience measures, not guarantees. Always keep a second independent backup outside the Tool’s backup folder.
