• Happy Holidays Guest!

We want to announce that we will be working at reduced staffing for the holidays. Specifically Monday the 23rd until Jan 2nd.

This will affect approval queue times and responses to support tickets. Please adjust your plans accordingly and enjoy yourselves this holiday season!

  • Hi Guest!

Please be aware that we have released a critical security patch for VaM. We strongly recommend updating to version 1.22.0.7 using the VaM_Updater found in your installation folder.

Details about the security patch can be found here.

Usage:
0. Delete any old versions of the KoteEars packages - KoteEarsController plugin gets confused if it finds multiple instances of the same KoteEars morph.
1. Load or create a scene with a Person atom.
2. Add a new CustomUnityAsset to the scene.
3. Select the added CustomUnityAsset and load koteears asset from the KoteEars package.
4. Select the ears CustomUnityAsset, go to the Move tab and align ears to the "head" node of the Person.
5. Reposition and rescale the ears asset to your liking.
6. Go to the Control tab of the ears asset. Set "Link To Atom" to Person and "Link To" to "head" (not "headControl"). This is necessary for KoteEarsController plugin to find a correct person atom to read morphs from.
7. Set Position and Rotation to "Hold".
8. Add KoteEarsController plugin from the KoteEarsPackage to the CustomUnityAsset (not the person). It will still work if you add it to person but only if there is only one copy of the ears CustomUnityAsset in the scene.
9. Search for the KoteEars morphs on the Person and adjust to your liking.
10. Add ParentHoldLink plugin from Blazedust to the ears asset. Now you can move, change pose or animate the person and the ears will stay on the head.
11. [Optional] Use CUAManager plugin from Blazedust to load the ears easily with all required plugins or to make the ears load automatically with the look.

Known issues:
  • UnityAssetVamifier does not work for the ears.
  • There are no KoteEars morphs for males in this version. You can probably use female morphs though.
  • Extreme values for KoteEars morphs can look weird.
  • Currently there are no collisions on the ears.

FAQ:
Q: How do I animate the ears?
A: Follow the usage steps and then just animate KoteEars morphs as any other morphs.

Q: How do I turn the ears into rabbit ears?
A: Play with KoteEars morphs values and overall scale and position of the CustomUnityAsset. Don't forget that you can increase max range of the KoteEars morphs (but you need to do it for both right and left morphs).

Q: How do I report issues with the asset?
A: Post a message in the Discussion section of the asset on hub.virtamate.com.

Q: Why are the ears free? How do I pay for such awesome asset?
A: If you want to say thanks - you can release any your creation for free for VaM community. Or just send nudes (with ears) to Ray Wing :)

Q: What model is used for the screenshots and how do I get her?
A: She's a promotional model hired specifically for the ears demonstration. She did not sign up for sharing :(

Q: Do I really need the RayWing.[Scenes]_KoteEars_Demo package?
A: No, it is just a scene to demonstrate a proper setup of the asset. Feel free to delete/skip it.

These are really well done, using morphs to move them is a brilliant idea. A morph for length and another for rotation along the long axis (possibly individually) would be amazing!
