Introducing Verified Creators
For a long time, the only thing standing between a brand-new account and a paid listing on the Hub was a 30-day wait. It was meant as a chance to settle in, read the policies, and share some free work first.
In practice, many people just waited out the clock and posted the same paid resource on day 31.
That's had a cost. The free catalogue is the heart of the Hub — it's what brings people here and what gives paid content an audience in the first place — and the share of new creators contributing to it has been falling. Meanwhile the number of paid listings keeps growing, and too many of them are low-effort.
We're not here to reduce the amount of paid content on the Hub. We're here to make sure it's worth your money.
So we're replacing the waiting period with something we've been hinting at for a while: Verified Creator status.
What's changing
From today, posting in the Paid and Paid Early Access categories, posting demos, and adding Patreon, subscription, purchase or donation links to your resources require Verified Creator status. Verified Creators are approved through an application process and get a badge on their profile.
To become one, you apply. The application is short — you pick a few of your free resources to show us, tell us what you make and where your paid content will live, and confirm your work is your own. Accounts need to be at least 60 days old to apply, and we look for a body of free work released in that time: not a set number, but enough to see real effort and things people actually use. The full criteria are in our guide on How to Become a Paid Creator.
The moderation team reviews each application. Approval is a judgment call, and we'll be honest about that. If we say no, you'll get feedback with the decision, and you can apply again after 30 days.
If you already post paid content
Nothing you have already posted changes. Your paid resources and support links stay as they are. To post new paid content or add new links, you'll need the badge — but you won't need the full application. Visit https://hub.virtamate.com/verified-creator/ and you'll be offered a short request form instead. Established creators in good standing can expect a quick approval.
Why we're doing it this way
Free advertising to the VaM community is something the Hub gives creators as a perk, not something anyone is owed. We've never charged for it and we don't intend to start. What we're asking in return is what we've always asked: that people who want to sell here contribute here too. Verified Creator status is how we make that a real expectation instead of a suggestion.
We know a review process is more work than a countdown, for you and for us. We think the Hub is better for it. Questions are welcome below, and if you'd like to talk about a specific application, please open a support ticket rather than posting it here.
To apply, or to request your badge: visit https://hub.virtamate.com/verified-creator/ or select "Verified Creators" from the Support dropdown in the main menu.
