Hi, recently went down the rabbit hole with Vam and now looking for a headset less then around 1k.... Whats the latest and greatest that I should buy? Thank you

I'd stick with Quest 3, and since you have extra cash get the non S version.

Quest series , but you will need a good fast internet connection if you want to use VaM without cables ... well and a very strong PC also .

It seems to me like we are at the tail end of this VR Hardware cycle. Perhaps wait for what's coming up?

I recently got a Pimax Crystal Light. There's good and bad, the main thing I dislike is you have to buy a bunch of accessories to make it comfortable to wear and it ends up being quite expensive. The image quality and resolution are great but it feels a bit blurry/unfocused around the fairly small center area, and when there's text/UI you can easily see chromatic aberration.

Pimax recently announced a new headset "Crystal Super" that will probably arrive pretty soon in 2025 since it's already preorderable, it'll be interesting to see how that will turn out. It will have 3840x3840 per eye QLED panels which is pretty crazy

I broke my HP Rerverb G2 headband today. I have managed to fix it for now , but then I started to look into a replacement G2. That's when I discovered the whole Windows 11 24H2 update which would mean the loss of WMR. How lucky was I have not to done an update on my PC and still have 23H2, now I have switched of the updates. However, I will need to move on at some point.
So I am looking for another headset, but I don't want a Meta one. I love the Reverb G2, even with the wonky controllers. I can't use VAM windowed, I find it too clunky making 3d changes, I have to use VR.
Any recommendations?

At the moment you can buy second hand for less than 200 Eur a HP Reverb G2 due to the fact peeps upgraded to W11 24H2. I have the HP Reverb G2 and it is still a very good headset imo. Still using W10 though for the best performance.

Thank you for your reply. You maybe right. Buying another second hand Reverb G2 is the better option for now and keeping 23H2. More cost effective that trying to replace with a different headset with equivelent image quality.
