Mxx updated DeepSkin - Subsurface Scattering, Mouth, Teeth & Eyes with a new update entry:

v7 - Micro Detail & Capture Scene Lighting

V7: Micro Detail & Capture Scene Lighting

NEW: Micro Detail

  • Built-in skin micro detail, found in the new 'MicroDetail' tab. Off by default, so existing scenes and presets keep their look.
  • Procedural texture baked by the plugin (so no extra textures in the .var) with a live...

For me, when I reload the plugin, the detail is less pronounced with tessellation. I can see this clearly when I enable the debug view. The solution is to disable and re-enable tessellation individually. It could be a bug, or only for me?!

When you reload the plugin, every value is reset back to the default preset values. Maybe your default preset has a less pronounced tessellation level and it's reverting back to that when you reload.

Sry i meant after I disable the plugin and re-enable it. I have the default values and haven´t set any other presets. I tested it a little more:
Loading Plugin -> tessellation OK ->disable and re-enable tessellation individualy -> tessellation OK-> disable and re-enable the plugin -> tessellation less detail -> disable and re-enable tessellation individualy -> tessellation OK again
Just something I noticed. Great plugin, thank you.(y)

Ah I see, you mean when you just use VaM's plugin enable/disable toggle. I'll will look into that :)

And thanks 😁

Hi!
thanks for the great plugin.

I just have one small snag with it.
"DeepSkin: switched off eye clothing "Custom Eye Reflection" (Auto Remove Eye Clothing; it returns when that is off or DeepSkin is removed)."
Every time the outfit changes, which in my current scene, is a lot.
Is there any way to deactivate debug messages like this ?

Hey, you're right. This isn't needed to be said every single time. I haven't seen it in a while since haven't used eye clothing anymore since my eye update 😅

I'll make sure to either add a toggle or just remove it entirely in the next update :)

Another giant leap for vamkind :D

I think I found a bug, in the fade category if you set the transparency for the male characters head, it also seems to affect the female. Although I can set the sliders separately (make the head of the male transparent and visible for the female), if i save and load the scene, both the male and females head are transparent. I have to go into the plugin and set them again every time. It doesn't seem to persist when saving and loading the scene. Best I can explain it. Or am I missing something?

edit: I have my settings saved as default in the session plugin.

What it sounds like is that you might've saved your default preset with the head transparent. DeepSkin currently saves transparency settings in your presets too, so when your saved defaults are loaded, it also loads transparency values in the preset. You can test this by removing all transparency, and overwriting your default preset (by just clicking 'save current as defaults').

I thought I did that. What I am trying to achieve is that only the male head is transparent in every scene since I make all my scenes in pov so I don't have to set the sliders every time. I set the sliders and then I clicked on 'save current as default' in the plugin so they get loaded every time. Problem is that the setting seem to 'spill over' into the female since her head too becomes transparent. When moving the sliders, everything works fine, only the male head becomes transparent. If I exit vam and then start the scene up again, both the female and male load in with transparent heads. I loaded the scene just now and I noticed that the feet part of the male is transparent too eventhough I haven't touched those sliders. I disabled and enabled 'enable transparency' and the feet loaded back in and stayed. Weird :)

Edit: To be clear, I know there's the dropdown menu where you choose which person you edit. I've made sure I'm only editing the male. I imagined the setting were saved on a per person basis.

Ah okay, the fact that you're using the session plugin mode explains it. When you save a scene, session plugin values are not saved with it. If you were to have DeepSkin on both Person atoms, only then do they save with the scene. In the next release I'll make sure that session plugin values are stored in the scene as well. For now, I suggest putting DeepSkin on the Person atom itself so the values are saved with the scene (per person).
