Not sure you need to generate the depth buffer anymore, the latest version of VAM has a userpref for this.

Thanks for the guide though, reshade is great to tinker with for some really unique scene setups.

I can't seem to get past step 4. When i change reshade_depth_input_is_reversed to 0, my screen turns black but when its on 1. the 50/50 blue white appears

Great guide! The author could point out that he borrowed half of the material in this manual from another author!?

these are not equivalent steps. Yes you likely need that checked in vam, but you also need to check it in reshade. you are not generating anything in reshade, just telling it which buffer to read from and copy if necessary.

@Munchyman25 good post. I was unsure why a setup guide was needed for a tool with its own installer but you included most of the useful info I would have added. Only thing is hdr, you gravely underestimate the effect of it imo. tbh the screenshots you posted look really bad to me due to the incorrect gamut. OLED isnt a huge problem. If you want to ship more presets definitely recommend spending most of the time without HDR and have hdr users grab the autohdr addon

Regarding VR usage it is possible if you find the correct depth buffer at least for steamvr but I don't recommend it. I get well above 60 fps on desktop with complete rt or immerse RTGI but its not playable in VR unless you restrict to only using mild effects like LUTs which there are plugins to do natively. I have a 4070 ti super and 7900x btw

Hello,
Thank you for writing the guide. I successfully installed Reshade and RTGI, and after launching Reshade, it runs correctly. However, I’ve encountered a bigger issue: when taking screenshots, the Reshade effects are not displayed. I’m using the Supershot plugin, and from what I understand, Reshade is an external plugin while Supershot is an in-game plugin—it seems Supershot cannot recognize Reshade. But Supershot is an excellent screenshot tool—it can capture photos at higher resolutions than the native game resolution, and I can hardly do without it. Could you please let me know how you managed to take screenshots of games running with Reshade? Thank you so much for your help in advance.

Thanks for the guide. You might consider updating it since NiceGuy was removed and banned from the Reshade team and servers, and his Patreon is shut down. Might save some confusion for other users.
