Question Loading appearance window not showing (only Use merge load checkmark)

See image below. I can only fix this by restarting VaM, it will just randomly happen once every 50-100 times I click 'Select Existing'

As you mention, this happens when the panel is still opened somewhere or didn't load properly and gives VAM the signal it's still open. You can try switching to Play mode or pressing Escape, but a hard reset is a simple way to fix this rare situation.
