Hi everyone! I wanted to share something I've been working on...

No way buddy. I never want to create or use some sort of compromised plugin. Not for free and certainly not as a pay-plugin. If one of the Plugin creators caught by doing that, then no one will use again a plugin from such a creator. I dont want a tracking of some sort. Never, by no one. I also dont want, that some one knows what i am buying. If i see a creator that he is using such things, i am quiting from his patreon etc. Maybe i am starting to analyze future plugins via AI and will publish the outcome. For me, you are now blacklisted, No plugins from you. Nothing. You are not trustworthy. VAM is living from trust. You cant blame the people who are paying money to support the creators. Bad idea. Wrong focus.

The creator is offering an ID / Watermark which does not transmit information nor does it actively track users who download the watermarked content.

If this service was offering any sort of active tracking, it would not be approved by the Hub staff.

It is similar to creators using individualized mega encryption codes for their patrons so that they know who downloaded what file and when. Or when creators put watermarks on their skin textures, or watermarked morphs within their morph files.
The unique ID here would be able to theoretically connect a Patreon download to that Patreon user's specific account on the Hub or on a piracy website if the content were to be redistributed by that Patreon user without permission from the author.

There is valid concern over whether or not it is advisable to trust your paid content files to another creator who will apparently hold them on their own server. That is up to you to decide.
At this time, the website does not pose any unique security or privacy threat to our general members. For creators, use the service at your own discretion.

"Option B: Watermark per unique download"
"Same as Option A but your patrons can download from Ghost Blame where each download will have it's own tag. If it leaks, you can find out who leaked it."

That means for me, the tool creating a unique watermark for each user. I get my own personalized download. This is for me tracking and a privacy issue. Watermark is only a global thing and if only Watermarked, you cant find out, e.g. which of your 300 users on patreon leaked it. Thats a big difference.
You have to connect the unique watermark somewhere to my account, and thats a weakness.
Maybe you can explain it better, then it would be ok, also for me, but right now, i see only, that you have to grab some data e.g. from the patreon account, which is not for the usage for somewhere else. Maybe you can also tell us, with which data you link the unique watermark and how you protecting it. Its easy to say, its encrypted. There is always a key to decrypt encrypted data.
For better understanding, for me, the main thing is, i dont want to be linked unseen to somewhat. A global watermark is ok, when you say, you have different watermarks for different platforms.

Hey, I'll clarify a few things

The only "data" that will be in files if the Creator choose to use Option B is: our internal database ID (not Patreon ID). That's it. No name, no email, no Patreon ID, no username - nothing that an external party could identify you personally

Also, the data is encrypted with AES-256-GCM, which is the gold standard, quantum resistant with tamper protection
I don't store in database who downloads what, I don't even store which tiers or creators you have access too, all data is from Patreon

if the files stays in your PC and you don't leak them - than all of this doesn't even matter ... just support creators and don't make their lifes harder

And on top of that: I am open to audit by any trusted creator - I'll even go ahead and share my screen, show pieces of code, even show the production database - everything there is encrypted too :)
