I've always wanted a plugin that allows for a clean UI like this and makes management easy.
This became the motivation for me to even create pixel icons using AI.
The default built-in button triggers required a lot of manual work.
Sure, creators have made custom button triggers before, but I've never seen a detailed plugin like this that supports image insertion and click activation effects. As long as it doesn't cause any errors, I'm planning to use it in the next scene right away.

I would say wait for this next update that will be coming out very soon (should be on the hub by tomorrow) where I add the ability to add Label buttons that do not have On Hover and do not effect OnClick and they also support image backgrounds if you prefer. That lets you do things like add title buttons or title images above sections if you want and if someone clicks the title button it won't unhighlight what they are on, because it does not effect OnClick. I already have it updated and working. I think on this next version it is then good for major use as I also fix another issue with it as well. I will be updating some of my scenes with this next version soon so you can get some confirmation based on how those scenes UI look and do, as well.

And this is just a personal wish…
When using triggers in VR mode, the system UI can't be clicked like it can in desktop mode.
The trigger buttons always take priority.
It's not a major problem when creating scenes, but depending on the situation, it might be more convenient if trigger buttons could be hidden behind assets.
I’m not sure if that’s even technically possible—I don’t have any knowledge of coding.
Honestly, feel free to think of this as just the rambling of someone who doesn’t know what they’re talking about.
Still, considering this plugin is designed to stay true to HUD functionality, it’s already amazing that a feature like this even exists.

And thank you for letting us know there’s an upcoming update. I’m really looking forward to using the new version!

I think I see what you mean, if the DockedUI buttons overlap with VAM UI in position it can interfere when opening the VAM UI and trying to click. I will look into that to see if that can be resolved, I know that is a similar issue with CanvasButton so not sure if it can be resolved, but will check.

And I discovered another issue. In the plugin's General Settings, I checked the VR mode box for the trigger and saved the scene.
But when I load the scene again, it doesn't work properly.

(I had set a timeline trigger and used MacGruber’s LogicBricks to activate the "show" function.
The "show" is supposed to trigger when a specific animation plays, but it doesn’t.)

However, if I uncheck and then recheck the VR mode box, it starts working correctly again.

Lowering the spacing value doesn’t significantly change the trigger detection range, but it probably doesn’t matter much anyway.
Setting the width value to 1 solves the issue.

And about the issue I mentioned with the scene not working properly after saving and loading — it seems that was specific to my scene.
In a new scene, everything worked fine.
The problematic scene is quite complex, with a large number of assets and a lot of plugins being used. There's PostMagic, spawn points...
honestly, it's hard to even remember everything.

For the Individual Button Show/Hide Trigger Option, I added this note to the update if you test it and have any issues...

Important Note: If using this new feature, it may require you to save and reload your scene to properly refresh/update VAM cache for these new individual button show hide triggers to properly connect and work. I recommend setting them up and mapping them and testing first. Then save and reload your scene. If you rename your buttons, VAM cache may still show old names in cache until you save/reload or restart VAM. Be sure to select your renamed version. If you test it and all your buttons toggle on and off except for a few, those buttons may have refreshed VAM trigger serialization after you mapped it or you may have renamed it and selected the old cached name version. So you want to go to that trigger mapping and set it to none and just re-select it and try it again. Even though it's in there and you're changing it back to exactly what it is, it seems to refresh VAM to connect properly. This seems to be an issue with VAM with caching and setting up triggers like this. From then on it should connect to toggle them on and off without any issue. I will work on improving it so it does a better auto refresh in a future update.

Donno if I don't get it right but it seems like the issues I reported have come back again and it drops to like only 3 fps literally. The fps drops issue have gone in the v5 update, but the latest v6 seems to introduce it again and it became even worse.

I realize that it drops to 3 fps because I used like 10+ buttons in the same scene. So just the same issue come back again, nothing even worse actually.

First, I love this plugin. Been looking for a solution that worked like Overlay and put the UI over the camera. Pinning was close but buttons would get lost behind atoms in close possessions. I love to use this for persistent buttons such as reset, Force FadeIn, and POV. The one thing I noticed is I can't appear to find an efficient way to do progression actions where one action shows after another like VAMstory. The only way I could figure to do it was creating a separate plugin for each action and relays of when to show each plugin which gets a little cluttered. Is there an easier way I'm missing? Also, it appears if an action button covers over the VAM UI the action button sits on top of the VAM UI. Any way to make this plugin sit behind the VAM UI? Thanks for all your effort on an excellent plugin.

Yes there was an issue with older versions on removing it and adding it back that throws that error for fonts because it's a VAM cache issue. From the latest version on it should no longer cause that issue when upgrading versions. The issue is one that is resolved by saving the scene and restarting it for older versions but on newer versions I added code to properly remove it for on disable/on destroy which is when the plugin is removed and updated to a newer version. This should then stop that issue with fonts so they get removed properly from cache.

I am not aware of an issue with show/hide not working outside of when you very first setup the UI, if you use the show/hide individual buttons it will require a save/reload for that first setup instance because when it's load vam doesn't recognize those new triggers added until save/reload. It's like VAM can see them because they show up in the list to select them but does not connect until you reload scene. That is I think an issue with VAM cache. It also happens if you rename the buttons, VAM trigger UI on buttons will still show old names until you reload the scene and it updates the VAM cache. If you see something outside of that instance of creating it, let me know. It's one thing I do need to improve or see if there is a way to refresh the cache but I am not sure if there is. I have seen that issue with other plugins as well. Where even with VamStory I recall having to reload scene for it to get some triggers that were brand new to work. But after that it was not an issue. Seems to be mostly something creators will notice but end users should not.

I noticed an issue.
When i attach the UI in to an Atom using Anchor mode and rotate the Atom, the Menu rotates with it.
As soon as i change something in the Plugin UI the rotation of the menu resets and is no longer synced to the attached Atom.
Same happens if you deactivate/activate the Plugin.

Also i would love to ask if it would be possible to add support for multiple Rows or Lines of Menus.
For now im just using multiple Instances of the Plugin to display two rows of Menus but that has some limitations. For example it doesn't really work with the "Rotate to User" feature.

I understand that this could be something you might feel uncomfortable about, and that morally speaking, it would have been better not to do so without asking. Even so, the plugin was simply too appealing, and I couldn’t resist experimenting with it.


To be honest, I don’t have enough knowledge to fully understand such a large script, so I relied on ChatGPT for help. That makes it even more embarrassing.


Still, if you have even a little interest, would you be willing to take a look at my improved version? I built a 3-level Matryoshka-style button structure, added GIF playback support, and even restored the hidden toggle buttons you had prepared for future expansion.


I want to make it clear that I do not claim any ownership over this work at all. My only intention was to use this plugin more effectively for the scenes I create and share. But since you, the original author, have already published it on the Hub, I know it would be inappropriate for me to upload a modified version with extra features.


If you’re ever interested, I’d be very grateful if you considered implementing some of these ideas officially.

Seems there's more settings not getting saved in VR mode, at least for me: spacing, width and height.
bqbq posted above (may 7 2025) that the complexity of the scene he was creating was proabably the cause of similar issues, but I've tested it in the default scene and still coudn't those settings.

@VamEssentials : I found one small issue in desktop mode: a .png file assigned as button background (saved in vam/custom /images) will not be assigned to this button upon scene reload.
