A guide to the various resource categories on the Hub
Scenes
Scenes consist of playable content that can be loaded into VaM and can include characters, environment, animations, etc.
"Scenes" covers a lot of content and is the main category for resources on the Hub.
A scene can be anything from a static character in a pre-built environment, to a full multi-scene animated story in which the player can participate.
Like all VaM content, players with a Creator subscription can modify and edit the scene to their liking.
Looks
Looks are characters to be used in scenes.
Looks can comprise of a simple preset that allows you to change the appearance of an existing character, or a full model including morphs, textures and clothing assets.
Clothing
"Clothing" consists of anything that will appear in-game in the "Clothing" tab.
Most of this content is self explanatory, but can also include other assets that can be attached as clothing items, such as glasses, hats, jewelry and accessories.
Hairstyles
Using VaM's built-in hair styling kit, Hairstyles can be "cut" and shaped and then saved and loaded onto your character via the Hair tab.
Additionally, hair might include body hair.
Hair can also include custom unity assets that can be attached as hair items.
Morphs
Morphs are tools that control the shape of the character's body found in the "Morphs" tab.
Morphs in this category typically include several shaping morphs designed to let you customize your character's shape.
Full character body shapes with custom morphs specific to that character would typically go in "Looks" rather than "Morphs".
Poses
Poses are presets which position the character into a pose. Some poses can include idle animations as well.
Poses are loaded in VaM in the Pose Presets tab.
Mocap and Animation
Motion Capture and Animation are animated segments that can be attached to a character to bring it to life.
These can include simple movements to more complex dance scenes. A full scene including an environment, dance, and character would typically go in "Scenes".
This category is for the animation portion only with minimal extra content.
Textures
Textures consist of images to be used as skin assets, tattoos, or even makeup, fingernail and clothing textures.
Textures are typically packaged as a preset for the in-game item that will be textured.
Note: Textures cannot be loose files and must be packaged in VAR format.
Environments
Environments are typically loaded as custom unity assets, but can consist of a pre-made scene including many assets and settings.
Note: It is expected there will be no character models included, only the environment and possibly lighting or scripts.
Lighting + HDRI
This is the place for lighting rigs, HDRI / skyboxes, reshade presets, and other lighting or FX related content.
Assets & Accessories
This category mainly consists of custom unity assets that can be loaded as objects in-game. Some are interactive, and others are just static objects.
Examples include furniture, vehicles, toys, props, etc.
Note: Typically, jewelry and other items a character would "wear" would go in "Clothing" rather than "Assets & Accessories" unless, for example, it is static jewelry meant to "sit on a dresser" and not meant to be worn.
Likewise, CUA Hair assets would go in "Hairstyles" rather than "Assets & Accessories".
Audio
Audio consists of both music and sound effects, typically in assetbundle format.
Note: Audio-related plugins would go in "Plugins + Scripts" rather than "Audio".
Plugins + Scripts
This category is typically meant for in-game loaded Plugins via the various Plugins tabs in VaM, but also covers some external applications.
Note: External applications and loose scripts that are are not meant to be loaded into VaM don't have the same security protections afforded by VaM's plugin loading processes, and so often will come with a moderator-added warning to "use at your own risk".
Toolkits + Templates
Templates, obj files, seam guides, and utility-based scenes, scene setups or subscenes.
The templates category is designed for content that helps creators make their own scenes by offering either a tool or a starting point.
For example, a basic default scene setup with some useful plugins already pre-loaded would be a "scene setup".
A scene with with multiple pre-loaded plugins that serve a specific purpose, such as helping you set up an animation, might be considered a "utility-based scene".
Non-vam related content such as 3d modeling setups or seam guides would also go here.
Note: Original plugins or scripts would go in "Plugins + Scripts" not "Toolkits + Templates".
When we say a "toolkit scene" we mean a scene that uses existing plugins as dependencies, not a scene with a brand new plugin that should be posted in "Plugins + Scripts".
Comics + Storytelling
This category is for 2D comics based on VaM content, video storytelling using VaM, or for scenes set up as a storytelling or comic format with no or minimal animation.
Voxta Scenes
Voxta-enhanced content for use with the 3rd party Voxta AI plugin. For more information on Voxta, click here.
Demo + Lite
A special category for Free content that demos paid content. Resources here have limited features compared to their paid versions.
Since we do not allow advertising in the Free categories, the Demo + Lite category is hidden from search results by default in-game, and can be hidden in your user preferences.
Note: Content here should be representative of a paid version of the same content.
This is not a category for free items that just happen to be used in a Paid scene, for example a Free clothing item that appears in Paid content, however we have temporarily moved those items to the Demo category if they violate our policies on advertising.
We may eventually come down hard on these resources and remove them if they are not converted to Free content. If you have such content in Demo + Lite, please be aware.
For more information on Demo + Lite, see the guide for our policies on Paid content.
Guides
Guides typically consist of "How-To" documents on the various aspects of VaM content creation, but may also include scene files.
These guides can be wholly represented in the "Description" portion of the resource itself, or can be attached in PDF format or even link to a Forum post.
Other
This is the place where things end up when they are incorrectly categorized.

But seriously, we created "Other" as a "just-in-case" but we have found that 99% of content fits into the other categories.
Some useful examples of "other" would be desktop wallpaper images, artistic non-erotic scenes (these will soon get their own category) or scenes or presets that are made as fan tributes to specific pre-existing Free content.
Note: This is actually an underutilized category. It would be a great place to create "extended scenes" or "companion additions" as fan-made content to existing popular Free scenes. Of course, if that idea gains traction it, too, will become its own category.![]()
Additional Note: Previously, we allowed "dependency packs" for creators to place common dependencies they use in all of their scenes. We are discontinuing this practice. We recommend that if you have a pack of dependencies you use commonly in your scenes, that you attach it to one of your free resources and reference the var that way.
