Answered How to view VAM in complete fullscreen using VR.

As mentioned it must be a .bat file not a .txt You launch the game by double clicking that bat file from within virtual desktop on the headset and thats it.

Question Can you export model .obj with rig/bones?

    Thanks for the two answers!

Question Can you export model .obj with rig/bones?

So I exported a model as an obj. I loaded it into Unity and made it look nice with the materials/textures etc. Only, it can't move. There is no rig so I can't apply humanoid animations to it in Unity. Did I do something wrong? Does it just not output any form of rig for animation?

Question Using Driver4VR with Embody and Timeline?

I use a Quest2, Kinect V2 (because of the FoV being larger than V1) and the free Amethyst mocap software. To be honest though, you can also use the plugin here on the hub that works direct with the Kinect and bypasses SteamVR if you don't use it. I hope eventually all the mocap stuff lands on...

Question Using Driver4VR with Embody and Timeline?

The feet thing is a hardware issue, mostly with Kinect V2. They are working on a fix for it and it's dramatically improved from what it was. They are also working on a "from scratch" AI pose estimator using the depth data only, not relying on the Kinect Pose data at all. When that is working all...

Question Using Driver4VR with Embody and Timeline?

If it generates SteamVR Trackers (I think it does) and you use SteamVR, the answer is a simple YES. It's a bit of a faff to setup in VaM, but I have done full body tracking in VaM in a couple ways for quite some time now. However, I have a personal moral objection to the way they sell their...

Question Remote Desktop from inside VAM

aaaah, thats the Oculus Home app! I dont use that. I use Virtual Desktop. I *tried* to use the Oculus home but physical Link via usb doesn't work because of shitty broken USB ports on the quest and Airlink doesn't work because of shitty broken software from Meta. BTW, the bad USB port design is...

Question Remote Desktop from inside VAM

I can't find ANY way to do what you suggest on my Quest 2. Neither Virtual Desktop or the Oculus Home menu have any option to pin stuff in such a way?

Question Remote Desktop from inside VAM

I was trying to get a video capture window working. I got a basic webcam display in Unity but I can't get it functional in VaM. The reason, I have an HDMI capture card that appears as a webcam. If that worked in Vam you could just plug it into your laptop display output and see the screen in VaM...

Question Is there any software that can increase the game‘s FPS in VR? Such as DlSS or FSR?

Yes, but only in specific setups. I use virtual desktop with the vrtoolkit that gives foveated rendering and upscaling. I also get interpolated frames thanks to VD which brings my overall frame rate up to something passable on most scenes.

Question Is there a way that I can get VAM on Meta Quest 2?

Ask away. I’ve posted here a bit on this topic but happy to help.

Question Is there a way that I can get VAM on Meta Quest 2?

I can confirm the quest2 is great for VaM using Virtual Desktop to stream wirelessly. as long as you have a good wifi6 router (if not just use link and usb), it’s amazing. Also, if you turn on the auto switch to hand tracking you can put down the controllers and just move your hands, which work...

Answered How to view VAM in complete fullscreen using VR.

The actual answer is to launch VaM from inside Virtual Desktop. You do this by running a batch file. Create a standard text file, put this line in it (with the path correct for your instal) "C:\Program Files\Virtual Desktop Streamer\VirtualDesktop.Streamer.exe" "C:\VaM\VaM.exe" save that...

    Answered Scripts - moving CUA?

Thanks! (again!) Those changes worked perfectly. Now the actual in game control point moves with the asset, instead of it's "home" point staying still and the visible object moving away from it. (horrible!). Now I just have to work out how to detect the "freeze movement and animation" tick box...

    Answered Scripts - moving CUA?

Thanks, I will try that out. containingAtom.mainController.transform sounds like what I want. I was going to ask about keeping movement constant despite FPS variation, but I managed that just by using the ms timer, so it never goes faster than it should even when you go to 120fps etc. Next is to...

    Answered Scripts - moving CUA?

Ok, so I can move the transform inside the CUA, however that does strange things because it ends up off center to the placed CUA atom, while useful this isn't what I need right now. I need to move the whole asset as if you manually dragged it yourself. I am struggling to understand how to access...

Question FBX in Unity is see through.

It might just be the materials. I found sometimes the materials get messed up in Unity when I load stuff in and I get transparent rather than opaque materials. Check out the material shader settings etc.

Question Do i need Steam VR to launch VR directly for quest?

This has been WELL covered. No, you don't need SteamVR. In fact, I think that makes it worse. Install the Oculus desktop app and it runs through that. Look into ALVR and Virtual Desktop as possible ways to stream wirelessly as well as "air link" built into the Oculus app.

Question Legion 5 Laptop i5 11400H and RTX 3060 mobile 130W will it work?

It's the most reliable way to correctly launch VaM in the "right" mode for Virtual Desktop. The main goal is to avoid getting SteamVR involved. I find having a shortcut icon to that .bat on the desktop easier and quicker to launch.

    Question 3D Printing VAM objects

Also, resin isn't the only kind of printer. You get get laser sintered powder printing as well as the classic melty-squirty-plastic printers. They ALL need ventilation or you breath in melted plastic fumes etc which isn't good. Other than an open window I have never needed any real safety...
