Cool idea -- I actually tried this exact thing a couple of months ago and it worked pretty well but I really wish there was an option for inexpensive full body tracking with low latency, which would make this really work well. Would be interested in seeing the video to see how it works for you
My thought is if you want to use AR, Virtual Desktop doesn't offer any functionality. You should invest the time and effort into getting ALXR working. I compiled a version of ALXR that uses green for passthrough, so I'd advise using that.
I don't know. Korejan mentioned he was going to have this but it seems based on his nightly ALXR builds that he got busy with other things. He also needs to figure out how to pass the values into the vulkan shaders which may be difficult because the vulkan shaders I think need to be compiled and...
Try first using Menu-B, then go to the camera background plugin to change the color. You should see something like in the screenshot I included. Notice that the RGB combinations that correspond to passthroughshould show passthrough on the Color chart and the color bar to the right of the chart...
Pbpjan15 submitted a new resource:
Green screen Passthrough APK for Quest 2 - This APK is a modified version of the one Korejan released that uses Green for passthrough not black

Rename to apk and install on your Quest 2 via Sidequest. Use ALVR 18.2.3 server on your PC and launch VaM. Push the left controller’s menu button and the right controller B button to convert green to passthrough. Use the background color changer plugin to make the background green which will...
Here's another update: I recently was able to recompile ALXR and change the color that gets turned to passthrough from black to green! Here are new instructions to download the modified APK as well as use the background color changer plugin:
1. Install and run the ALVR server code on your PC...
Thanks, that will be a useful plugin! Korejan the developer is working on altering ALXR as we speak so that it can use a different color than black. He may be able to tune it to a specific color other than black and release a build but probably just better to wait for the ability to customize...
I did use a Quest 2 and the ALXR client sideloaded on my Quest 2 with the ALVR server installed on my PC. You can find detailed instructions that I posted in the below thread:

1. Alright, first give credit to this dude for posting about this on Reddit
https://www.reddit.com/user/lord_sir_sgt_joffrey/
He is the one who forked the code for ALVR to ALXR that includes passthrough (maybe drop him a note of appreciation)

2. You need to install...
My screenshot was from VAM with passthrough, not Captain Hardcore. Here's a screenshot showing a VAM menu. I'm using an Oculus Quest 2, thus the B&W passthrough. No way around it I'm afraid ...
The trick has been disabled but I found a better solution using passthrough features of another application that you can sideload to your Quest 2. You need to run a server on your PC and start VAM through SteamVR. I can send you more details of the application if you'd like.
Here's some...
