I just downloaded a bunch of looks using the in-game hub and cannot figure out how to delete them in-game. For example, I have the option in-game to delete many looks that I manually imported into the var folder on my desktop, but that option is not available for the looks that I downloaded...

I can't comment on the error log, but check the dependencies tab above. I also had a problem with the skin texture and later noticed it had to be downloaded separately from the dependencies tab.

Regarding selecting the model to edit: You can change a person's look in any scene. You don't have to go into the "creator mode" if you mean the "create only" selection in the top menu. Although, the 3 point light female model scene in the create only section is a good place to experiment...
