LookCam Assistant

Plugins + Scripts LookCam Assistant

Download [<1 MB]
LookCam Assistant is a camera bookmarking and navigation tool for VirtaMate that lets you capture, organize, and replay camera views with ease.
It’s built for creators who move the camera a lot while building scenes, posing characters, or framing shots — and want a clean way to save and return to great angles.

The plugin watches the main camera and automatically saves a camera mark when you stop moving, or you can capture views manually at any time. Each view stores full position and rotation, can be reordered, renamed, favorited, and wired into VaM’s trigger system.

✨ Key Features

  • Auto Camera Capture
Automatically records a camera view when you stop moving the camera for a set time (configurable threshold).
  • Manual Capture
Save the current camera view at any moment with a button press.
  • Smooth Camera Transitions
Use a configurable transition speed to smoothly move between saved views instead of hard cuts.
  • Thumbnails (Optional)
Generate preview thumbnails for each camera mark (can be enabled/disabled for performance).
  • Search & Organization
    • Search filter to quickly find specific camera marks by name
    • Reorder marks with Up/Down buttons
    • Mark favorites for quick access
    • Rename captures directly from the UI
  • Per-Capture Triggers
Each saved camera view can have:
    • On Enter Trigger – fired when the view is loaded
    • On Exit Trigger – fired when leaving that view
Configure triggers with a dedicated editor panel, using standard VaM trigger UI.
  • Export & Import Camera Sets
    • Export all captures (including names, transforms, favorites, thumbnails, and triggers) to a JSON file
    • Import them back into any scene to reuse your camera setups
Great for reusing cinematic setups across multiple projects.
  • Timeline-Friendly Export
Export your camera sequence as a simple JSON keyframe list, ready to be used as a template for animation/Timeline workflows.
  • Copy/Paste Camera to Clipboard
    • Copy the current camera transform to the clipboard as JSON
    • Paste it back later to restore that exact view
Useful for sharing camera positions between tools or scenes.
  • Scene Persistence
All captures, favorites, thumbnails, and triggers are stored in the plugin’s JSON so your camera setup is saved with the scene.
  • Trigger Actions for Each View
The plugin registers a trigger action per capture (e.g. “Load Cam 1: Closeup”), so you can call specific camera views from:
    • Scene triggers
    • Buttons
    • Other plugins
    • Story/sequence systems

🎯 Ideal For

  • Scene creators and storytellers
  • Screenshots and promotional renders
  • Cinematic animation and camera-driven scenes
  • Anyone who constantly tweaks the camera and wants a smarter way to keep the best views

HOW TO USE :

1. Load the Plugin

Add LookCam Assistant to any atom (or an Empty atom).
The plugin will instantly begin tracking the main camera.

2. Auto-Capture Mode

When Auto Capture is enabled, the plugin will automatically save a camera view when you stop moving the camera for a moment.

You’ll see a message like:
“✓ Captured! Move camera to capture next position.”

3. Manual Capture

Click “Manual Capture Now” at any time to save the current camera angle.

4. Browsing Your Camera Views

All saved views appear in the list with:

  • View name
  • Time saved
  • Thumbnail (if enabled)
  • Load / Favorite / Delete buttons

Click Load Position to jump to that view.

5. Smooth Camera Movement

The camera will smoothly transition to the selected view.
You can adjust the transition speed in the settings.

6. Organizing Views

For each view you can:

  • Rename it
  • Mark it as favorite
  • Move it up/down in the list
  • Delete it
  • Search using the filter box
  • Hide everything except favorites

7. Triggers (Optional)

Each camera view has:

  • On Enter Trigger → fires when you load the view
  • On Exit Trigger → fires when leaving it

Great for:

  • Story scenes
  • Animations
  • Switching lights, expressions, poses, etc.

8. Import / Export

Use Export Camera Set to save all views to a JSON file.
Use Import Camera Set to load them into any scene.

This makes it easy to reuse your favorite camera setups.

9. Copy / Paste

Copy the current camera to clipboard as JSON, or paste one back later.
This is useful when sharing views between tools or scenes.

10. Trigger Actions

Every view automatically generates a trigger action (e.g. Load Cam 1), so you can load camera views from:

  • UI buttons
  • Timeline
  • Other plugins
  • Story systems
  • Scene triggers
