Excellent idea!!!
Please consider altering sampling method for more realistic effect. Instead of UL corner, I would propose RGB mean from all four corners plus centerpoint (biased). Or perhaps just move sampling point at center.
Additionally you could provide user with a set of alternative sampling methods to select from.

This is great! So many possibilities with this type of Challenge theme. Some suggestions for future scenes: Music set to the beat, positions, settings, timers, progress bar. Great start, thanks!
