FUJIBAYASHI NAOE
Before anything else, I'd like to thank the supporter who commissioned this character.
This project started as a private Game Port commission, and although the client had every right to keep it exclusive, they generously allowed me to share it with the community. I'm truly grateful for that. They were also incredibly patient throughout the entire process, which gave me the time I needed to focus on quality instead of rushing to finish.
This was one of the most challenging projects I've worked on so far.
The character was recreated on the Genesis 2 framework for Virt-A-Mate and required several different steps throughout the process. It involved extracting and adapting the original assets, rebuilding parts of the model, transferring them to the Genesis 2 body, editing textures, making corrections in Substance Painter, and adapting every piece of clothing so it could work properly inside Virt-A-Mate.
The clothing was, without a doubt, the biggest challenge. Because Virt-A-Mate works very differently from the original source, every piece had to be adjusted individually. While I don't think it's a perfect recreation, I'm happy with where it ended up, and I believe it stays faithful to the overall look and feel of the original design.
This project took several days—and a few late nights—to complete. It also taught me a lot, and each challenge helped me improve my workflow for future Game Port projects.
I hope you enjoy the final result as much as I enjoyed creating it.
And once again, a sincere thank you to the supporter who made it possible for everyone else to experience this character as well.
