The WebPanel atom can be used to embed Youtube videos into a VAM scene, without showing the Youtube homepage as it would appear in a browser. Included is a demo scene with a such embedded video.

Use the following steps to embed a Youtube video and skip the browser navigation:
  1. Search for a Youtube video you want to embed.
  2. Copy the video ID. It's the alphanumeric code in the Youtube url behind "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=", e.g. "dQw4w9WgXcQ"
  3. In VAM, add an atom Misc->WebPanelEmissive. In the Web tab of that atom, paste or write the url "https://www.youtube.com/embed/", followed by the video ID.
  4. Optionally, add parameters to modify how the embedded video will appear or behave. E.g. deactivate controls, start from a certain point, autoplay, etc. Add a "?" behind the video ID, followed by the desired parameters, each separated with "&". A list of parameters can be found here: https://developers.google.com/youtube/player_parameters?hl=de#Parameters

Youtube restricts which videos can be embedded, especially commercial music and age restricted content, so maybe you'll have to find alternative uploads or sometimes you're just out of luck. Alternatively, you can also embed locally saved videos with the ImagePanel atom.

Not all parameters work within VAM. Some parameters will only work conditionally, e.g. "autoplay=1" only works when "mute=1" is also set.

The optimal resolution can be found under "stats for nerds" after right clicking the video in your browser. Copy these numbers into vertical/horizontal size within VAM.
