The most recent update adds nebula spheres that do not render clouds along the horizon. These nebula spheres render clouds straight above and straight below when the X rotation and Z rotation of the CUA are set to 0 degrees. A large ground asset is needed to hide the clouds down below. These nebula spheres are labelled "nebula tapered horizon type 1, 2 and 3." Demo scene 4 provides a quick preview.
A special word of gratitude for @hazmhox and the generosity and talent in providing a specialized editor for this nebula effect. This editor is located in the custom/scripts/NebulaEditor folder and when loaded as a plugin for the CUA, the editor enables the dynamic changing of the scale, colors and opacity of the effect. Changes to the particles takes a few seconds as the effects are refreshing. Also, changing which prefab that you use from the dropdown list will require the plugin to be reloaded in order to synchronize properly with the different nebula.
Nebula Spheres are 560 meter wide 3-dimensional particle effects. This asset includes eleven types of nebulous clouds: frozen, radiation belt, ion storm, turbulent skies, purple rain, mutara, aqua, briar patch, milky way, mist and organic compounds. There are also grayscale (pure black and white) versions of all 11 effects, in order to eliminate all color pollution when using the Nebula Editor plugin.
Since these spheres are composed of transparent particle effects, skyboxes in the background can be partially seen through the clouds. The interaction of lighting with skyboxes, such as Spaceboxes by @hazmhox can have some very interesting effects, as seen in some of the sample images below. The nebulas have slight movement, and the direction of the motion can be adjusted by changing the rotation angle of the CUA. Try adding multiple spheres with different directions and light up the sky!
There are four demonstration scenes.
