Positioner - Main camera and Atom Positioner Plugin

Plugins Positioner - Main camera and Atom Positioner Plugin

Hey, I made a thing.

The idea of this plugin is that you can move your monitor camera or any atom to a position you like you like and save those coordinates. Later on you can set your camera or the atom back to the saved coordinates.

I'm using this plugin myself together with VAMStory, so that the monitor camera can follow people around and it gives me control over the shots I'd like to show, alongside the text that is displayed by VAMStory. But you can use it with any other plugin from which you can call actions.

This is the current UI (version 7+):

This video probably helps to understand what the plugin does and how to use it. (The video was made with version 1, the basics still apply, but there's more features/buttons now).

Credits

I salute you guys for making awesome plugins. I now know first hand how hard it is just to save and retrieve an Array, let alone a Dictionary in the JSON save file. You guys are awesome!
  • MacGruber - looked a lot at their code and used some of their Utils
  • Acidbubbles - learnt a lot from their code, especially with setting the camera correctly
  • hazmox - for the VAMStory plugin that gave me the final push to create this plugin

Other

This was something that I felt was missing for a while now and after not finding a plugin that does what I want, I went about creating it myself. It has been a frustrating experience, because I'm only a mediocre coder and I had to reverse engineer my way through this - and I'm sorry - copy some code from other plugin authors. But somehow, after a lot of debugging - the plugin seems to work fairly well now.

I'm happy to get any feedback on this. Leave a like if you've found the plugin useful - it really does make a difference.

This is very, very good. My first thought is: can you add a Layer for the camera position so you can add a group to better organize the stored cam positions? I can make a uniqe name for each group my self off cource, but making a scene I want to use many locations and can imagine it would be easier to find a something based on a group and then a name?

Also: I would love a button to delete a cam position, and one to update a current position with a copy function perhaps?

Thank you for your feedback, highly appreciated. Your suggestions are definitely logical next steps for the plugin. However I cannot promise anything. I first saved cameras by a number only and it took me hours to get it working with names, so the time investment for me is huge. Of course, if I see this being very popular, I'm more likely to add features. Thanks again!
