PrettyFrank submitted a new resource:

Focus v1 - Easy-to-use autofocus controls for use with PostMagic/PostProcessing Depth of Field settings.

Focus v1

Focus moves the parent atom around the scene, based on what you (or any other atom/controller) are looking at. This simplifies, in particular, the autofocus setup for Depth of Field adjustments (when used with Sensor plugin).

The plugin is set up with reasonable autofocus settings, meaning you can simply add this to an existing AutoFocusPoint atom in your scene and be done, or pair with Sensor for direct control over your DOF...

Hi @PrettyFrank

I'm playing around with focus at the moment, it's pretty awesome and adds a lot of dynamics to the scene feeling! :)

I have a question.

Is it possible to create a custom array of targets for focus to look at?

For example, let's say we have this camera shot.

We like the angle, but the issue is that the focus is on the sternum instead of the breasts. (I assume the raycast is hitting some sternum collider)

I know we can ignore certain collisions, but the "raycast" doesn't hit the breasts because its out the viewing angle.

There's a movie of what I'm talking about in the bottom link. I had to manually adjust focus, but it still isn't hitting the right target. I figured there has to be a more efficient way. Hence why I'm hoping Focus might be the better solution.

So in the case of the Baroness, at this camera angle, we'd have 2 custom targets. One on each breast and that's it. Focus would select either the left or right target to focus on.

I might be approaching this incorrectly, if you have any other suggestions I'd love to hear it!

Thanks again for this amazing tool !

@too - Hey man, glad it's helping you out!!

I *think* your solution is as simple as dropping that minimum distance... obviously in that screen shot, the breast/nipple colliders should be a closer hit target (and well within the 90 degree angle), but if they are under 0.15m, it'll skip over them entirely and find the next collider (which may be the chest collider).

Try that out and see!

Now that said, the minimum focus distance (for PostMagic DOF) is 0.1 IIRC, so if you drop below that, you might get a defocusing as it moves closer. Also *might* have to adjust Sensor to match (if you're using that).

Going below to like 0.05 did the trick!

I gotta wrap my brain around Sensor some more , I think that's the missing link to getting an ideal automated set up.

I'll keep you posted on how it goes!
Thanks =)
