Hi,
I'd like to animate the expressions of one character in an animation when another character interacts with them.
I have the Timelines plugin (287) on character 1 and I want to animate the expressions on character 2. From what I have read, I have to select the expression morphs as favourites and then, apparently, I will be able to select morphs as a target. So, do I make the morphs on character 2 favs (this is the one I want the expressions to appear on) or character 1?
In Timeline I see an option "Fav morphs and resynch in control tab". When I select that option it takes me to the morphs for character 1 not character 2.
Any advice would be welcome.

You specify the atom when you're adding targets, so make sure you select the right person atom when adding the expression morphs.

Favs are global to VAM. It's a "morph" favorite, nothing is ever tied to a specific character (that would be a nightmare).
You can add target from any target (either the current one, or any other from the scene), as atani says, ensure you have the proper character selected.

For favs, if you have trouble seeing them in Timeline, a good way to have them work is to fav them in any character you want, then hard reset or restart vam and reload your scene.

Hi, thanks for the replies. You refer to "adding the expression morphs", my question is; How? How do I add expression morphs to a character in an animation in Timeline?

EDIT... maybe I have found it.... Select correct person in Timeline and then under Add storable float params, select geometry and then under Params... select the morph and ADD.....

Now that wasn't so difficult afterall....

Oh... and for the unwary... the only morphs that are selectable are those that you have checked as FAV in the character (Female/Male) morphs tab... and it apparently does not work for all morphs... hmmm apparently restarting VAM helps...... or maybe not... the expression does not change when passing the relevant keyframes....
Such fun!

Oh I am gonna have to look under geometry! I’ve been able to animate morphs but when I tried expressions (listed as poses) they were nowhere to be found. I guess there’s some technical difference between the two.

EDIT: I did look and the poses are not there, only morphs.. I wish atleast I could set a state depending on what anomation is playing.

1 way is to use SimpleStateMachine.

Put a trigger in Timeline to trigger SimpleStateMachine.Next where you want the Pose Morph to animate.

Add a PoseMorph state... or two (one to 'undo' the first). There are options for transition duration.

Go to the character's pose morphs, and apply the ones you want. No need to favorite anything.

In SimpleStateMachine, select 'Edit', then click 'Next' to go to the next state.

Do the same for the second/undo state. Put another trigger in timeline where/when you want that to happen.

Uncheck "Edit" to avoid overwriting your two 'pose morph animations' accidentally.

Done.
