Metix submitted a new resource:

Better Pubes - Better pubes for female atoms

First off, I'm a pube guy. Just wanted to get that out of the way.

That classic hairy triangle has had my attention since that one kid in elementary school with the older brother pulled a wadded up page from a Playboy mag out of his pocket, as we huddled around behind some trees in the back, trying to get a glimpse. No judgement for those who want all completely hairless, it's just not my thing. A good set of pubes create a certain sort of mystery about what untold treasures might lie...

Read more about this resource...

I like the style where there's a central vertical line, and the other hairs seem to branch out from that in curves like a tree. Thin, wispy options would be good too. Good stuff!

Thanks, the feedback is helpful. The center-line thing was actually came from an accidental swipe with the styling sphere, but I liked how it created contrast and ran with it. I hear you on the wispy, it's a trick get a mix of a sort of randomness with enough uniformity that it makes sense. I think the first thing I'm going to do is make versions of these with collision and sim enabled to see how they respond to clothing and other contact. But wispy is now on the list too.

I tried using the hair creation tool once, didn't understand a thing XD. Little to no documentation doesn't help either, and there's absolute zero information about the pubic hair section. Kudos.

It is a ridiculously finnicky tool to use, there are some video tutorials on it, but the only way I was able to get a handle on it was to literally spend hours at a time figuring how how to use it and training my muscle memory. The biggest issue I have is that there are so many ways to permanently undo or mess up what you're working on. A better undo feature would go a looooong way to making it more friendly to learning and experimentation.

can i reqeust for very hairy style? I always loved the 80s' obession with the hairy beaver
There are several full bush sets available. Have you seen these?

Some of these are gonna need a weed whacker...

ive been using these for all my girls(milfs mostly) , but it never hurts to have more variety to use. More hairs the better, god i love these manes

Mo pubes, mo betta.

The feedback is great, and helps to give me a focus for when I pick these up again... but, like I've already mentioned, I just want to caution that I likely won't be able to get to any more styles very soon. Once I finish and publish a look I've been working on for months, It will be nice to have something more discrete to focus on, so maybe in a few weeks or so. I think I do see a Megabush just cresting the horizon though, can't quite make it out from here.

If you find that there's too much hair on some models, I've got just the crew to help. :ROFLMAO:

image saved. Alsodid u guys ever encountered the issue of the pubes clipping into the character model ?
All hair kind of does, by it's nature and what setting it has (not physics, the one right above that). If the curliness is set to a certain amount, as it would be with pubes, then they will bend backwards into the model. There is one setting, that I believe is called "Hair Normal Offset", or something similar can either push the hair off away from its roots, or invert and go below the skin.

Also, with the pubes I posted I disabled collision and SIM, so they could keep their shape. I would need to tweak their stiffness settings to prevent too much collapse, which would allow me to enable collision as well. But that's gonna have to be in a future update, whenever I get back to this resource.

IMO, pubes should never have sim enabled. They do not waft back and forth with hip motion IRL.

Fantastic work! Could we hope for more?
There is a sea and a spoonful of just pubic triangles and landing strips, but rarely do I see any styles that look actually natural like yours do.
I hope to see more of full natural styles like this one with majora and taint included. The one on this screenshot looks good, but I feel you could do it ten times better.

Right on man. Yeah, I was initially inspired by my, ahem, foundational years, and seeing someone in a swimsuit with a slightly grown-out bikini wax, where some of the new growth on the sides is just starting to show and poke out. I do plan on doing more styles, but I am only doing this as a hobby at the moment, so personal motivation is going to drive whatever I end up focusing on.

Also, skin textures can go a long way in complimenting a set of pubes in VaM. The photo above looks like the body diffuse is set up to go really well with the sim hair.

Do you happen to know what resource this pube set is from? I'd like to take a peek at some of the settings and how/if the hair is styled. It does have some nice movement to it actually, especially for such short hair length.

Skin goes miles for realism. Riddler Skin 6 has detailed redness on the lips so the hair does not stick out like it was glued on top unlike other skins that have no color difference between the labia and the rest of the body. I tried to create a decal that can be applied to other skins, but I'm really not good enough with graphic design tools.

You could do it with the Jackaroo makeup kit. It would require the standard diffuse, normal, etc... as well as an alpha mask, then could be slapped on anything. Sounds like a fun project.

It is pretty editable too within default VAM customization menu.

I could not be bothered with gloss, normals, specular and alpha. I am not even on a novice level when it comes to making or editing textures, so I just made a transparent PNG and painted on top of the genital region using a template wireframe body texture with that PNG as an overlay. Results are satisfactory, especially after I incorporated anus decals, but if you go looking for flaws it won't even take a second to spot them. You can see for yourself - left one is with the decal and the right one is blank.

Interesting. Btw, if you're curious about making any pubes of your own, the biggest trick is the 'Hair Multiplier' setting (under physics). From what I've found, you really don't want to go above a setting of '3'. Having it any higher just creates more hairs that follow almost the same curl pattern of the sim hair they're based on and also clumps their roots together (even with root spread at max). With pubes this just doesn't look that great, because that's not how pubes in the real world behave; They're random and go every direction at once, so uniformity is the enemy.

There just aren't enough sim hairs at the 'micro' pube level to work with. The scalp mask density is the same as head hair, which just doesn't work as well for pubes, though I think there are some alternate custom masks out there.

In fact, you can make almost any existing pube resources instantly look a lot better just by doing this.

The only problem with using a setting of 3 is that it makes really low density. I got around this with this resource by making some of the hairs really long and sort of 'piling' them on each other to create a sense of density where I wanted it. Thickening the the hair gauge can also help, but 1/8" diameter pubes also don't look that great.

Yeah, I do this too. Very silly how root spread is very limited, would be so much more helpful. Maybe then Hair Multiplier would not be such a detriment too.
