Probably a stupid question, but why would one want to limit the fps?

Probably a stupid question, but why would one want to limit the fps?

In my use case at least, the only way previously for me to limit FPS in VR was to do so via reducing my Index's refresh rate.

Now I can instead (presumably) keep it at the max refresh rate of 144 Hz while aiming for a more frequently achievable 72 FPS, which should aid on visual smoothness at that frame rate.

Just curious, but would this help to remove the 'Physics on overload' while tasked out of VaM? I also see this when in the in-engine resource browser. Fans spin up while away, then everything violently snaps back into place on re-focusing the application.
