How do I take a png or jpg file and apply it to a piece of clothing? Its probably really easy but can't find any info on it anywhere.

For the future, It helps when the thread title is a summary or the topic of your question.
This depends on what kind of texture you want to change. In the clothes options there's a Textures tab with a few types of textures. If you want to change the general material of the clothes it's usally the materials texture (first one), if you want to add a picture on a tshirt for example, the decal texture might fit better that purpose.
To get this right and depending on what you want to do, you may need the UV texture to see what is where in the cloth item.
