You have to save the character from the scene as a general preset or an appearance preset, depending on what attributes you want to save.
General Presets save the pose (body and face poses) too, so your current characters pose is overwritten, but if you save it as an appearance preset the current pose is kept, just the appearance is swapped.
In this table you can see which preset is the right one.
In the beginning I uploaded the characters as General Presets but then the people with the lower tier software version couldn't use it because they can only watch scenes.
