Question Replace VAM 1.x VAR Management?

Yikes -- the party officials strike. What's interesting, though, is that it's not 'done'. There have been several updates this year to 1.x instead of releases of VAM 2.x, so there is still a displayed interest in fixing issues. Don't be so closed-minded and obtuse to the reality of the...

Question Replace VAM 1.x VAR Management?

Alas... Xstory Player syndrome. Everything built for VAM 1.x doesn't work in VAM2... and we haven't heard anything for a year about it. VAM2.x may be completed at some time. VAM 1.x is here now. And using "general interest of people" assumes much, don't you think? Are you used to...

Question Replace VAM 1.x VAR Management?

I'm pretty certain that Meshed already stated that the problem isn't with VARs in general, but the way that morphs are cached. If you have 5k in your VAR library, it attemps to cache all of the morphs, eats up RAM, and overall slows down VAM. (Or something to that nature or effect). My...

Question Replace VAM 1.x VAR Management?

It looks like VAM2.x may be a "notinmylifetimeware" and there is a thriving community of VAM 1.x creators. There are a lot of bolt-on solutions to attempt to deal with the poor resource management of VAM 1.x. What is wrong with the concept of "Take 3 months off of VAM2.x and improve the...

Question Quickly degrading performance every launch

These guys are right about heat - we'd have to know more about how you are dealing with that. I'm running a single loop going through two rads in a positive pressure setup for an EVGA Hydro Copper RTX 2080 Super and Ryzen 9 3900X on an ASUS Prime x570-Pro with VAM on a 1TB Samsung 970 Pro...

Question Quickly degrading performance every launch

I think your problem is having too much money.... 😂 Most of us would like having "some" of that rig. Are you trying to run through an HMD or a monitor? Assuming you have your mainboard chipset drivers and all other current, Windows 10 patched etc.. What are your VAM quality settings that...

    Question Managing/Removing unused vars/dependencies

GitHub - feelfar/varManager: varManager I've been using this for quite a while to manage Var bloat. It's certainly not perfect, but it works for me. Let's hope that MeshedVR integrates a better content management aspect in 2.0 and doesn't just fawn over new softtech in the models.

Question VR vs Desktop: What is the desktop community missing out on?

The biggest challenge to learning VAM is that it's slow. Once you've built up some assets, the workflow pace for load times is horrible. So it's not necessarily the learning curve that exists with every product, but that out of 10 minutes working with the tool 1/4+of the time is waiting on...

Question VR vs Desktop: What is the desktop community missing out on?

Maybe if you're not going in for raytracing, 1080GTX is comparable to RTX 3060. But really, if you look at the last segment in that video comparison... Control looks like shite without raytracing on.

Question VR vs Desktop: What is the desktop community missing out on?

GTX 1080ti??? I just got my RTX4080ti and can't believe the fapping fps. Sure it cost me $10k to have someone steal it form their labs in Santa Clara and driver support isn't perfect yet, but is it ever? They've really done it well to have breached the sense of smell triggered by photons...

    Question Newbie questions

@wayneout One of the best fixed possessions is using two plugin scripts "Passenger.cs" and "Improved POV". Load these up on your person and activate the Passenger.cs script either by checking the box in its UI or assigning a key to trigger it from its UI. Using these plugins both simplifies...

Question VR vs Desktop: What is the desktop community missing out on?

With a Quest 2, Improved POV and Passenger, some of the experiences can be considered religious. You'll get better FPS and resolution out of a non VR display, but its certainly not the same. I'll agree that with the correct WiFi setup the Airlink is good if not better than cabled Quest 2 --...

Question File browsing slow load time? Addon folder related?

Why is this all dynamically generated instead of a local indexed DB that can be refreshed if you make manual additions vs the hub? Seems a pretty odd approach for an application that is designed for continuous creation.

Question Ryzen 9 3950x, 64gb ram, RTX 2080 TI not enough for running at 60fps with 3 People. Are you kidding me?

Process lasso looks to do this with a complex UI.. and its last version is in April 2021... Something else to play with, I'm sure. Bitsum. Real-time CPU Optimization and Automation It doesn't appear to do as much for my Ryzen 9, 3900X 12-core/EVGA Hydro copper RTX 2080 Super, as turning off...

Question Ryzen 9 3950x, 64gb ram, RTX 2080 TI not enough for running at 60fps with 3 People. Are you kidding me?

I'd have to say I'm skeptical that an app coded in 2008 is going to manage my 12-core ryzen 9 well. Anything more current?

Question New to VR - best gang for buck headsets that don't require FB ?

Eventually someone will hack a quest 2 to get rid of the Facebook cuck who likes to watch us. The hardware is solid, especially with a pro aftermarket strap. I'd avoid the extra battery in the HMD strap and just run a wire to one in your pocket to keep the weight off of your head. The best...

Question Would a fast M.2 SSD help with load times?

The current Samsung 980 Pro PCIe4 NVMe M.2 blazes at 7GB/s reads (7000MB/s)... it will make VAM astoundingly fast paired with a PCIe 4.0 mainboard. That's twice as fast as the 970 Pro/Evo PCIe3 NVMe M.2 at ~3.5GB/s (which is still more than 6x the speed you are currently galumphing at.)...
