I currently use Kdenlive. With that, you can do "import image sequence", and have to option to import based on file pattern. Then I select the first image and it will import the entire sequence. -

I always render my videos with the VRRenderer plugin, which will best match the physics with the fps. The clipping gets worse when your fps and physics rate don't match. If your PC can't reach and keep 60fps, then it doesn't match the 60Hz physics rate and then the physics gets out of sync and... -
