It depends, if you want to 'be' the character and move the character's hands and look from that pov you'll want to check out the 'embody' plugin. VaM 1.x Optimization for quest 3?
Hard to help without any info about your setup, there are lots of factors that can affect image quality on the Quest 3 that aren’t related to VaM. Link Cable generally gives the best image, but with the right setup, WiFi can work great too. Easiest way to go wireless is with Virtual Desktop...- Aikz

Sounds pretty neat! Especially if you could include somewhat of a guide on the setup. I've been messing around with pass through but actions like configuring on the fly becomes such a hassle as soon as embody is on in VR. In any case if you spend a lot of time on it I'm sure someone's going to... -

I just ran into your renders/media and your pics look great! Is all this straight from VaM and plugins or is some of the shading/post applied after? I've noticed good lighting makes all the difference and I sometimes fiddle around for hours getting it right. (Guess I'm not the only one). Any tips?- Aikz

As for passthrough it has a lot to do with lighting, since that defines the color on your display(s), and pass through filters a color(range). So obviously when you filter out blue a blue sweater becomes transparent. Now when you have light that contains blue, some surfaces will reflect those...
