The merchant starship includes exterior and interior modeling of a merchant starship, with the interior including more detail than the exterior. The interior model includes a three-seat cockpit, as well as a corridor, sick bay, rear exit airlock, kitchen, changing area, shower and toilet room.
The "Merchant Starship Demo" scene in included for a quick tour of the ship. The demo scene includes a significant number of invisible lights and one directional light, with cast shadows turned off for most of the lights. Adding person models will look better with other light options and cast shadows turned on. This model is large in scale and complexity, less lighting would likely be ideal for most scene situations. A special thanks to @mspeck01 for sound support for this resource.
The source model for this resource is excellent. The challenge for bringing it to VAM is that every screw, vent, bracket, latch, brace, handle and more had some sort of mesh overlap issues. When mesh overlaps in Unity based assets it makes the mesh flicker as Unity goes back and forth trying to decide which mesh has rendering priority. To resolve this, since 22 November, I have spent well over 100 hours of time to move mesh pieces in Blender in order to resolve the mesh collision issues for this model. Are these issues all 100% resolved? No, but if you find one, you will know what I am talking about.
