Materials Library Subscene

Textures Materials Library Subscene

This is a simple, quality-of-life subscene that I use to store material combinations for clothing and other objects. I created this because I got tired of having to load different clothing items in order to copy over material settings from one to another and wanted a "library" of sorts so I could try out different things. Vam lets you store clothing presets and even item presets, but there's no real way to store a library of shader setups other than that.
- This file does not come with any texture files and spheres in the subscene are set to basic colors.
- You will be replacing these simple setups with setups of your own as you create more and more of them
- This is designed mostly for materials that use seamless textures and setups that can be used across different clothing items and objects
- Subscene does have a light parented so that no matter where you move the subscene to, you can see your library. If you don't like this..you can simply remove the light.

- Spheres are set with collision off so loading into a scene should have no affect on any other objects.

Instructions:
buttons.jpg

1 - When you have a material you want to add to the library, Save it into VAM's temporary memory by using the "Save To" buttons. Clicking one will save the material setup into it.
2 - Load the subscene (During the first time, you'll have to load it from the .VAR package. After that you'll load your own library).
3 - Select a sphere you want to save it onto
4 - Go to the material tab and, using the same button number as you did before, restore the material onto the sphere by using the "Restore From" buttons.
5 - Save the subscene.

If you haven't saved your own version of the library before, these are the steps to do that.
1 - Select the entire subscene atom and in the subscene tab "CLEAR" the Package Uid and also click "Set To Your Name".

This will allow you to Save the subscene into your own library (as VAM doesn't allow overwriting files inside .VAR packages.

After that, you can reload your newly created subscene and Overwrite it as you add more materials to it.

Love the idea! Why not share a version with your materials? This could become a great texture library in addition to be a convenient way to access it ;)

Thank you. I didn't share a personal library, mostly because the textures themselves aren't mine to redistribute.
