Hair Control Plus

Allows you to control all hair items on a character simultaneously while providing independent "Groups" for specific overrides. Using a touch only system, you can save just color, scalp, strands, look or physics to load on any other hair.

Core Concepts

1. Hierarchical Control

  • Global Tab: Controls every hair item on the character. Use this to set your base look, physics, and colors.
  • Group Tabs (1-4): Allows you to "break away" specific hair items from the Global settings. Groups use Influences (offsets) for colors and physics, meaning they stay relative to your Global settings unless you choose to override them completely.

2. The "Touched" Parameter System

The plugin only takes control of a setting once you move its slider or toggle its button.
  • If you haven't touched a slider, the hair keeps its original internal VaM settings.
  • This allows for "Non-Destructive" editing—you only change what you intend to change.

Recommended Workflow

Step 1: Initial Setup

  1. Add the plugin to your Person atom.
  2. Go to the Global -> Generaltab.
    1. You could then select your primary hair item in the Select Hair dropdown.
    2. Click Apply Selected to All. This syncs all hair items to a unified starting point OR
    3. Click Apply Selected Color to All. This syncs all hair items to a unified color.

Step 2: Global Styling

  1. Use the Global sub-tabs (Scalp, Strands, Look, Physics) to dial in the general appearance and behavior for the character.
  2. Adjust the Master Base Color and Master Tip Color to set the primary palette.

Step 3: Grouping & Overrides

  1. Switch to Group 1.
  2. In the Assign tab, click the buttons for specific hair items (e.g., "Bangs" or "Sideburns") to add them to the group.
  3. Go to the Influence tab and adjust the Hue/Saturation/Lightness sliders. Notice how only the assigned hairs change color relative to the Global master.
  4. Go to the Physics tab to give these specific hairs more stiffness or different gravity without affecting the rest of the hair.

Step 4: Saving Your Look

  1. Go to the Presets tab.
  2. By default, saving will only store the sliders you actually moved (Overlay Mode).
  3. If you want a "Full" preset for a category (e.g., you want to ensure the Physics are exactly the same every time), toggle the Include All Physics button before saving.

Haven't tried it yet, but this looks like a major improvement when dealing with hairs. What a great idea.

Not really a creator but this seems revolutionary. Anything that makes managing hair easier is welcome.
