In the beginning of the XIX century the list of award weapons was increased with sabers that begun to be used along with small swords. By this time, the appearance of the “golden weapons” was finally worked out. At the hilt of the officer’s weapons of major-generals and equal to them naval ranks was made the inscription “For Brawery”. Weapons of higher ranks had inscription explaining the reason of awarding.
