As I was working on various assets the past couple of months, friends who were testing these assets mentioned the idea of providing the blinking light effects embedded within these resources as separate assets that creators could implement within their own scenes. This resource provides a means for you to do so. The main asset for this resource is titled: "blinky light set." This asset emulates a flash of a blinking light and also emits a small amount of light in the surrounding region of the CUA.
The blinky light set includes the following colors and options:
-- Colors (8): amber, blue, blue/white, green, red, violet, white, and yellow.
-- Options (4):
--- v1: random start time; recurring blink cycle
--- v2: start time 0; recurring blink cycle
--- v3: start time 0; single blink
--- v4: start time 0; continuous light
The blinking light set emits light based upon the color of the particle effect. Therefore, if you use the VFXEditor by @hazmhox to change the color of the particles, this will also change the color of the surrounding emitted light. If you use the VFXEditor, I suggest that you use the white version to do so. Using the editor will also require adjustments to particle size and scale. Versions 3 and 4 (v3, v4) enable creators to execute the flash of light at the time of their choosing via triggers. For example, v3 will provide a single flash of light each time the CUA goes from the "off" to the "on" state.
Also included in this resource is a light emitting diode bundle that includes continuous or blinking versions of green, red and blue LEDs. The LEDs are emissive, but do not emit light into surrounding areas of the scene.
The "Blinky Light Demo" scene provides a quick look at the options available for the blinky lights. The reset button executes a one-second reset cycle in order to restart the effects and demonstrate the random cycle nature of the V1 effects.
This pack also includes a blinky light array to show a large-scale implementation of blinking lights, as well as two forms of background materials to reflect the blinking lights, as shown in the demo scene.
