• Happy Holidays Guest!

We want to announce that we will be working at reduced staffing for the holidays. Specifically Monday the 23rd until Jan 2nd.

This will affect approval queue times and responses to support tickets. Please adjust your plans accordingly and enjoy yourselves this holiday season!

  • Hi Guest!

Please be aware that we have released a critical security patch for VaM. We strongly recommend updating to version 1.22.0.7 using the VaM_Updater found in your installation folder.

Details about the security patch can be found here.
90+ alpha textures that make modification/adjustments to clothing for improved usability in animations and viewing in VAM. Alpha textures add openings in clothing for easier usability/viewing in scenes. I've experimented with a lot of alpha textures such as heart and star pattern type lingerie and am sharing out the textures to use, re-work in your outfits/looks, scenes, etc.

Note: No clothing is included, just the alpha textures. The Alpha Textures are named after the clothing item they were created for and should be used on. They won't work if used on random clothing, they have to be used for that specific clothing item. They are custom made for each clothing item to match it's specific UV map/design blue print.

About Alphas Textures

Alphas are textures that can add transparency to clothing and are commonly used to create a torn or ripped stocking effect or add patterns on clothing that show the skin in that area such as fishnet stockings. Many of those are just regular legging items with an alpha on them that turns them into fishnet stockings by adding transparency patterns. Alphas can make clothing crotchless and make outfits look like lingerie that has easy access openings or patterns with hearts or stars.

Many of these are used in 100 Scene Ready Outfits and are already loaded for you on those outfits if you want to view some examples:

Using Alpha Textures
Clothing has different UV maps or blueprints that show where everything is located and the alpha.png is a texture image that is layered on top of it to zero out certain parts and add a pattern or transparency. Wherever black is on the alpha image is where it removes that part of the clothing. The clothing is not damaged or altered, just made transparent with that pattern. You can remove the alpha to restore it back to the original settings. This is important to know because it means you can't use one alpha texture you like on another outfit by just selecting the file. It has to match that outfits UV map and placement or blue print. Each alpha texture is custom made for each outfit.

How To Use/Apply These Alpha Textures
The alpha textures are named after the clothing items they were created for. You want to first look through the folder to see if you recognize any clothing items that you use a lot or have. You can then search for that item in your clothing tab or on the hub to see if it's available to download if you don't have them.

1. Click on the Customize button on that clothing item.
2. Find the main clothing tab, usually it is called "Combined".
3. Click on the "Textures" tab in the top right.
4. Under the section for _AlphaTex. Click the Select button.
5. Find the alpha image texture file in the folder to apply it.

Click Root on left, AddOnPackages on right, open VamEssentials.Alphas, open Custom, search by the clothing name in top right search box and select the alpha texture. You can then save that as a preset on that clothing item by clicking the Preset tab in the bottom left corner. Or save it on your overall outfit under Clothing Presets.

The default folder path is:
Custom\Clothing\Female\VamEssentials\Alphas

It will apply the alpha effect immediately. To remove it click the Clear button.

How To Create Alpha Textures
Atani has a really great guide that walks you through how they work and how to create them if you want to experiment with creating your own alpha textures or learn more about it:

Awesome work! Don't understand why not more clothing creators implement torn/folded presets straight away with the release. Thank you for this option at least!
