[ForgeLab] Glass Forge - Real glass. Breakable, wipeable, with curved and faceted shapes, plug and play.

Things VAM did not have, built so that dropping them on an atom is the whole setup.

🧩 What the line is for: building the things that are not there

Or maybe some of these things did exist before, but even for me, they...

Hey Shadow Venom! :geek:
Sorry to bother you

ForgeLab plugins are amazing! GlassForge's refresh rate limit feature is perfect for shooting scenes!

Such great customization options, especially the gradient effect, I'd really love to use it in my snapshot scenes! But after testing with the Snapshot plugin, I ran into a few issues..

If I pick a config in Snapshot that matches my screen aspect ratio, like 16:9, the reflection in the screenshot looks totally normal:

But when I check the portrait mode box in the Snapshot plugin, which uses 9:16 for taking photos, the character's reflection gets squashed horizontally:

Same thing when I choose an aspect ratio wider than my screen, like 32:9 — the reflection gets stretched horizontally:

I'm probably doing something wrong, but if you have a moment, I'd love to know if there's a setting I should tweak. Thanks a looooot! 🫡

PS: Found it! The issue only happens when I set the mirror refresh rate to a custom 20 fps — if I switch to realtime (follow screen refresh), photos come out fine!!!
But I'd really love to keep the custom refresh rate, since it saves a looooot of performance in my scenes.o_O

Any suggestions?

Hey supperGR! 😄

Don't apologize at all, this is a great report, and your PS nailed it! It's not a setting you got wrong, it's a bug on my side.

Here's what's going on: with Custom Rate, GlassForge only redraws the reflection for your main view, that's where the performance savings come from. SuperShot takes the photo with its own separate camera, so the glass just reuses the reflection that was made for your screen. If the photo has the same aspect ratio as your screen, it lines up perfectly. If it doesn't, the reflection gets squished (portrait) or stretched (32:9) to fit. In Realtime every camera draws its own reflection, which is why that works.

Until the update, the easiest trick: switch the mirror to Realtime while you're shooting, then flip it back to Custom when you're done. Your screenshots don't care about frame rate anyway 😉 (Shooting at your screen's aspect ratio and cropping later works too, it's just more hassle.)

One heads up: SuperShot's Window Camera and Custom Cameras modes hit the same thing on Custom Rate, even at 16:9 (the reflection comes from the wrong angle). Same trick for now.

The fix is on its way: screenshot and video cameras will always get their own correct reflection, and your main view keeps the custom rate and all the performance it saves. It'll be in the next GlassForge update.

Thanks again for digging into this, and for the kind words about ForgeLab! Really happy GlassForge is useful for your shots 🙏
