Well, since you asked!@Rancept , Do you have any other requests? Whether possible or impossible, please list every feature you’d love to see — even the wild ones.
If my skills are up to the task, I’ll try to improve it in the next version.![]()
Problem 5, 6 doesn’t seem to have any issues at all when I test it. Isn’t that right?Well, since you asked!
1) I would love if there were some font choices. A small bank of fonts to choose from would be great.
2) Move buttons up and down the grid, maybe even left to right. Currently the only way to do that is either rebuild, or drag the button's edges down into a new slot, and move others into its place.
3) Use an image as a background for a button so I can have image panels / buttons instead of text based boxes.
4) Apply a color or image to the grid / panel itself that the buttons sit on.
5) I noticed that if the grid / panel is on top of another panel, if the buttons on that panel behind it cannot be clicked. So, for example, let's say I have one button on one tab, and a few buttons on another tab, if that second tab's panel's empty space is 'in front of' that first panel, that button cannot be clicked. I noticed this when I wanted to make a slider toggle to turn the other tab off and on. I put them right next to each other, but that second tab's empty space was sitting just over that toggle button, so it couldn't be clicked on.
6) I use VAM in a very wide resolution, and I put the menu of buttons I make as far to the right as I can. When I change the resolution to something less wide, suddenly that panel of buttons is way too close to the center. I feel like the position I place it at should stay to that edge of the screen even if the resolution is resized.
7) Can we add additional tabs than just the two? It would be great to be able to add more tabs. That way you can have sets of buttons at many different places in the scene or in the overlay without adding additional plugins to the atom.
That's all for now!
● resolved the issue of severe performance degradation in Overlay mode (report by @Rancept ; Created 100 buttons for testing; FPS improved from 60 before to 170 after).
I will make improvements in the next version. Thank you for sharing your feedback. Some suggestions:
1) the ability to have the 3DUI hidden by geometry, for now it's always visible, goes over VAMUI, fadeout-overlay, geometry, etc.
A switch per tab would be cool
2) add an image as background for buttons (same request as Rancid's n°3
● fixed the issue of the main UI appearing above in overlay mode.
● implemented functionality to apply texture on UI components (request by @cyberdelique , @Rancept )
@cyberdelique , After changing .txt to .var, please check.Very nice, but I think I found a 'bug':
When setting an image, the VAM file browser start from inside addonpackages, so we can't access the custom directory.
to reproduce:
load a local scene with a customUI3D in it.
add a button, set a texture, path is "My Computer".
add a new plugin, add 3DUI, then redo
add a button, set a texture, path is "addonpackages"
@cyberdelique , It looks like the issue has been resolved. Please try it once.yes, and I would like a toggle to switch from always on top as seen here and working as a VAM UIbutton, being an object in world that can be visibly hidden by geometry.
