Foost submitted a new resource:

BubbleControl - Tame VAM's Speech/Though bubbles. Restrict them to screen, rescale them, and more.

BubbleControl is a person plugin, which can be used to tweak the behavior of the VAM's built-in Speech and Thought bubbles.

The first version supports the following tweaks:
  • Resize the bubbles.
  • Restrict bubble sizes to prevent them from getting to small and unreadable when far away. Or too huge when close.
  • Restrict bubble positions so they always appear on-screen, on its edge closest towards the speaking/thinking person.
All these features work fine in VR. The...

Hello, can you add more fonts? The VAM font doesn't recognize some languages. It's a shame it can't use Cyrillic.

This plugin is epic!! many thanks for creating and sharing it! ... it makes the speechbubles FINALLY useable!

i was thinking what would be the best way (or supplementary plugin) to create a button that you could push and continously trigger allways the next dialogue text until a scene plays out.
like a "next" button in a visual novell.
any suggestions?

Hi. I don't plan to ship any extra fonts with this plugin, but I would like to add visualization customization options to it, including changing the font - to one of the fonts built into VAM. Hopefully it's only the comic-bubble font that does not support Cyrillic characters?

Thanks, glad you like it.

Personally I use my own SceneDirector for almost all scene scripting these days, but that's a rather complex and technical plugin if you are just starting with scripting scene logic. Also I have not yet released the update which enables atom states to run triggers on activation.

The StateMachine plugin included in LogicBricks could probably do it, although I never experimented with it too much.

Not yet ready for release, but a pic from an early test.
Unfortunately VAM does not come with that many fonts, Arial is pretty much the only usable alternative. But I really don't want to bundle more fonts with the plugin, so that will be all the options.

Foost updated BubbleControl with a new update entry:

v3 - scales fade

Alpha, Fade In/Out and Scale In/OutView attachment 586153

  • Alpha control for fully visible bubbles, for Bubble and Text separately.
  • Configurable alpha fade-in and fade-out. Replaces VAM's builtin fade-out, with the defaults matching VAM's hardcoded 1s fade-out.
  • Configurable scale scale-in and scale-out.
Note: Previous version broke VAM's builtin fade-out under certain conditions. I recommend updating to v3...
