Hey there VaM community!

Due to some reports of scams/fraud, we have decided to make a few notes about best practices when it comes to requesting or accepting commissions.

Here are some important things to watch out for as a buyer:

- Do not work with anyone who claims they can only do commissions through Discord / WeChat / DM
- Confirm that the creator has a valid Hub account with a history of activity / releases. Scammers frequently have banned accounts, or are unwilling to converse through Hub threads due to the moderation team's oversight.
- Be suspicious about creators that ask for direct payments through your credit card, bank account, or payment app (most popular creators will provide a commission tier on their Patreon or other subscription service)

Tips for requests:

- We do not recommend saying how much you are willing to pay
- Ask the creator for examples of their previous work
- Ask the creator if they are willing to discuss the initial details publicly, such as in the reply thread of your request
- Consider offering to pay only half of the fee until the commission is complete - put the responsibility on the creator to provide proof of services completed before payment is given

Tips for creators:

- Make it clear on your Hub profile that you offer commissions. Consider including this in your resource descriptions.
- Try to maintain a valid history of published free releases so that others can see your work
- Consider asking your clients if they would be willing to allow you to release their commission for free to the community once it is complete and the fee has been paid
- If you are a trustworthy creator with a history of completed commissions, consider asking some of your clients to vouch for you publicly. Do not conduct all of your business through DM.
- Consider letting moderators know that you are actively accepting commissions and you plan to conduct some of your business through the Hub or our official Discord server.
