Hi everyone!
We just wanted to cover some recent and semi-recent changes to the system for likes and reactions on the Hub.
Some of this has been covered previously in our post "new hub changes mega thread" back in April 2025.
As was announced back in April, the old rating+review system on the Hub was changed to a "Like/Dislike" system.
We have made some new quality-of-life changes to this system, and wanted to cover those as well as give a quick refresher.
Changes to Likes/Reactions as of today:
We have added a couple more emojis to the reaction menu and adjusted the UI for ease-of-use.
We also made the emojis slightly larger so they are easier to see.
"thumbs up" (
) is once again the default emoji reaction. The menu for selecting a different reaction is now opened by clicking the blue "thumbs up" reaction button (changed from hover).
To select the "thumbs up" reaction quickly, just click (or tap) the button twice to select the default.
On the resource page, the reaction button has been moved to the sidebar.
This was done to reduce confusion about how to rate a resource (also a thumbs up button). These buttons are no longer side-by-side.
The resource "rate" or "like" button is now prominent at the top of the resource page, and we adjusted the layout to draw attention to it.
We also adjusted the visibility of certain related metrics when browsing.
Likes and favorites are now clearly distinguishable from the rest of the meta information.
We have added the much-needed notification alerts for likes as well. When someone likes your resource, you will now receive an alert.
To change your preferences for receiving these type of alerts, go to account -> preferences by clicking your username in the menu bar:
Quick overview of the like/rating system for those that missed the announcement back in April:
"Likes" are metrics that have an effect on resource rankings and add to a creator's total rank.
Giving a "like" is comparable to giving 4 or 5 stars. You may also "dislike" a resource, although that will be for your own records only and will not affect the total likes for that content.
Clicking either the "like" or "dislike" button will also pop up the quick form to leave a review. You may leave a positive, neutral, or negative review.
Please make sure all reviews are constructive and polite. For bugs or errors in the resource, please message the creator or leave a comment in the resource's discussion thread instead of leaving a negative review.
If you have already reviewed a resource, clicking the "like" button again will remove your "like" and give you a prompt asking if you are sure you wish to delete your review.
